To All:

I did take into account the fact that the naysayers are #1 in the small minority & I gave examples i.e. 'bleeding of black in the corners' - turns out that is something that can happen w/IPS monitors (saw that in a couple of "Best Foto Editing monitor writeups) & I openly included that info (based on reviewer sites & the positive comments that contradicted, or had people who didn't experience that…

The negative comment based on color cast in corners was based on results of a Spyder 5 monitor calibration device which is already 2 Generations old & I use X-Rite..

Also, w/the edge problem reported, I later discovered it had a solution offered in the BenQ Support section of their website, so that complaint is to be at least somewhat discounted… Sooooo

That is why I wanted opinions of owners/users here… there will often be conflicting positive & negative reports on same feature & I hate to go one way or another based on one voice on a given feature/characteristic, esp when there are many more 5star ratings, & those that have said "I didn't experience that".

I listed diff complaints that may or may not be fm fully aware customers - who maybe didn't do all their resolution homework, support pages/forums are there to be consulted AND I saw how those giving 5 stars said "others have reported problems that I haven't experienced". It becomes like "dueling medical expert opinions" in legal cases. Who do you trust, the city Med. Examiner w/tons of experience; or the hired gun med. examiner the opposing council hires?

Then you have to take into account how saavy are the people who post… one guy said he was shy to use a brand name he hadn't heard of… BenQ? C'mon!, at Javits Ctr trade shows I saw BenQ booths regularly- which means they are not Johnny-come-lately & their reputation is pretty good…So for all those reasons, that's why I wanted to get a sense of what UHH owners of the PD 2700U had to say over time - I did ask for those who've had it for preferably 2 months or more…

Thanks for responses, looking forward to hearing fm owner/users *experience*; rather than conclusiuns based on conflicting reports that I have shown could very well have reason to discount, i.e. positive opinions that say they've never had the problem.

Also, it could be the negative reviewers got bad units that slipped by… one guy said exactly that & w/a replacement of the same model, he didn't have that problem anymore…

So any PD 2700U owners/users out there, please post your experience!

That's why owner's/users opinions HERE were sought - folks here are more involved.

Thanks in advance, seeker613

I've been investigating best monitors for photo editing & came across the BenQ PD 2700U. This monitor seems to have good tech specs, & placed well in Medium Range foto editing monitbr reviews, but a number of user reviews on Amazon point to problems w/screen quality/performance but only a smaller % w/1star or 2stars & 72% gave 5stars. Trouble is the low user reviews sounded like users or organizations that pretty much knew what they were talking about…

Dated 3/20 "horrible for pure blacks, bleeds in corners" but I've seen that is a known IPS type monitors.

Another, 6/20 says " green & red casts in bottom right & upper left that Spyder 5 calibration doesn't fix. But isn't that an older Spyder model?

Another, also 6/20 said "after 1 day" picture got gummy, backlight dead in corner. Yet another dated 9/20 spoke of a defective backlight that fades on edges…

There were also complaints of responsiveness by cust. svc. on an RMA request.

I would appreciate hearing fm those of you who have been using this for at least a few months & can relate to general performance & specifically the issues mentioned above.

Thanks in advance, seeker613

Another old favorite, re-edited. Bronx Zoo, Circa 2013, Nikon D300s Tamron 18-270 @ 78mm

Loved the Jungle background with the waterfall & the Baboon; just sitting there like he got stood up for a picnic lunch date!

Later afternoon, walking thru a nice residential area, I saw the pink front gate. Then the white facade behind it - then I noted the gate was quite rusted. Then I saw different evidence of the fact that it "as a renovation-in-progress… a building permit on the front door, the fence was only partially there (on left it shows it was broken off), an extension cord was coming thru a right side window down the front of he house; & the walkway had all sorts of 'stuff' on it; & at the end was a white planter w/nice color details & a little tree opposite it. All in all, perfect leading lines & framing… right to the front door!

I loved the light that colored the leaves in the tree on the right, defining shadows that showcased the tree trunk /branches on the left tree & made for contrast along the facade & grounds. I lined up thru the gate, along the walkway & shot. Nikon D300s, Tamron 16-300 @16mm. The camera's meter came thru like a champ & when I saw the image in the LED panel I knew it was one of those fortuitous "one & done" shots. Enjoy!

I found the FFs in Station 14 to be really pleasant, & they liked a prev image I made of one of their guys sitting at his desk in the front of the Station, & that led to this one; a spiral staircase showcasing an Environmental Portrait of the 'house' - featuring hydrant, raincoats, side of the Engine, bulletin boards, the 'slide-down' pole, & other gear; lit by one panel in the top of the scene. Taken on a Nikon D500 & a Tokina ATx-i_11-20 CF 2.8. @11mm & no post-processing barrel distortion compensation! Tokina makes great wide angle zooms & sharp! Enjoy! seeker613

lehighjack, thanks for the reply. Won't doing the 'folded taco' manuever & replacing it into pouch just return it to being wrinkled?

Are there any materials that don't wrinkle? I heard there are (all) cotton ones, but I'm guessing that there'd be shrinkage if you had to 'spot clean' & you couldn't use it outside even if it might just drizzle.

So hand steaming won't hurt a muslin+cotton combo, how much have you found is enough that won't hurt /shrink the material? It is stretched & fixed onto a metal collapsing frame wish. It seems like steaming could shorten the product lifespan. Wish I had done more homework on this purchase; but the product description said it was wrinkle free… Should have opened & unfolded it & checked for wrinkles, but I trusted the product listing & now it's too late to return (not time, just made other mistakes) ☹

Thanks for your help!

I just got a 6'5"x6' collapsible backgroud - made of muslin & cotton, that was touted as 'wrinkle free'. It is decidedly NOT wrinkle-free; which leads to my question: how do you get the wrinkles out?

It is double-side black & white material that despite hanging on a stand for 24hrs +, the wrinkles just won't 'quit'.

Please advise! Thanks in advance!

This overpass almost leapt out at me as I walked across NYC's West Side park "The High Line"; an elevated rail line that is now used as a 'walkway' park.

The overpass "called out" to me as along w/the bldgs along the side of the street, it framed the 'city life' scene. I really liked the overpass windows & their old architecture… then the colors, lines, shapes & textures in the scene. Enjoy! CC welcome!

Glad you enjoyed it. The uniqueness is why I took it, yellow flowers peaking up outtof the foreground vs. ESB, love the conceptual contrast! They are opening up more of the path. Now it is 14th St. - 23rd St. They'll soon be opening it to 30th St. I hope it'll be just as interesting… Prev. I shot fm 34th St & North. Great views & pix of the water & interesting bldgs!

I googled West Side's HighLine? Very interesting stops. Thanks for sharing

I was mentioning where it is, on the West Side, not the name. The website is thehighline.org - glad you found the shot interesting.

Walking along the NYC West Side's HighLine, I got a unique perspective on viewing & shooting the Empire State Building.

It was fm much higher up than fm in the street; & I was able to get the foliage along the pathway up close & incorporate it into the foreground of the picture. I liked the sky,t& the play of light/dark in the tonal range. The rest of the scene was a nice citysc0ape, w/diff. shapes & textures. Captured on a Nikon D500 & Tamron 18-400 @ 46mm

Enjoy!
