I do like them Dennis. If I ever have to give up my Big Nikons, that Sony RX10IV just might be the one!

Wow! These are great Jim! I have a few from Oregon, but not even close to the IQ that you have posted here! I've told myself I should go back for another try. But it hasn't happened yet. If you don't mind, where were these? No need to be too specific! Just a warning, if they were taken in your back yard, don't be surprised to see a stranger show up at your back door before sunrise next spring!!

The snout looks a bit pointed, sure it's not a crock?
The American Crocodile lives in salt water and brackish areas in Florida.

Yes, but only far south, as in the Everglades. Or so I've been told.
I think it's a gator.

Hard to say about the color, but the photos are excellent! I'm thinking that color varies from one to another doesn't it?

I'm glad you liked these. Not my usual but when in Rome, etc...

What is your question? Are you asking how old I am? I will assume that's it. I turned 67. Is that about what you figured?

I won't go there! But I can sympathize with some of the difficulties you have had to deal with. I turned 70 last month, it feels way too soon!

That makes one of us. You nailed it perfectly. Any clues on how to improve? How do you add excitement?

Thanks... I posted the image with a Red-tailed Hawk description on FB and was told it was a Swainson hawk.

I don't know which type of hawk this is... I know it is a HAWK, and I will do my best in my postings to be as accurate as I can ... thanks

I would have told you that it was a Swainson's Hawk, but Curmudgeon knows what he's talking about!!

I made another trip to Florida to see a friend who has moved there to take care of her mother. This time I left my camera at home to reduce the number of items that could get lost or ruined by sand. My phone doesn't have a great camera but I'm usually happy with the results. Plus I play around more with phone pics, get more creative.

Only the first two photos in this set are from Florida, taken near the Gandy Bridge where the mangroves intrigue me. My German Shepherd friend Violet can be glimpsed between trees in the first one.

The third and fourth photos show views near the rest area where I parked for the first night. The rest areas along I-10 may be its best features.

What saved me from deadly boredom on the long trip home after a visit with my sister in Houston was my decision to exit the freeway and pass through Austin and some of the Texas Hill country, which for as long as it lasted turned my drive into a festival for the eyes. When it was over, the scenery opened and flattened and gradually took on a discarded look until it merged with the almost laughably ugly stretch of New Mexico between Hobbs and Artesia. The third-from-last photo shows a picnic area in Texas, followed by an early glimpse of my home state.

But I live six hours west of there, and I am now back in my beautiful part of the state with a cat who missed me very much. And, just in time for my birthday, I took my first hike in over three weeks. So all is good in my world.
I made another trip to Florida to see a friend who... (show quote)

Good post! Happy birthday! Do I dare ask?
