You all love the waste money ..all you need is to attach your strap to the single strap lug opposite to the grip and thats it . I use a 30cent fishing swivel ( rated 150 lb) in the triangular ring and another ring on the other end. Than a clasp onto the strap ....Used this for years ..D850 /grip/ flash and 28-300 lens no problem. KISS and EPLS

EPLS....You set your camera to 2 FPS and take 2 or three shots . The first click will induce the blink and you get a good one on the second or third. Also avoids tongue twitchers. ie those who lick there lips when having photo taken . Some people will watch your shutter finger and blink when it moves but I dont know how to hide it !! After thousands of weddings at about 1500 shots/wedding its very rare to have an unusable photo using this method.

Look no further than the Samyang 14mm f2.8 in manual or AF ..If you get the manual just set it at 10ft and F5.6 and just shoot . Brilliant holiday lens ..crop later

I give up ..you can always rely on rubbish on the hogs
ie
For most manufacturers, you lose more detail, especially in normal light, with the “FF” camera, because the ‘crop’ camera pixels are closer together.

Well blow me the D500 and D850 have the same pixel spacing.

You all have a nice day

I understand that a pic with the same field of view would be better - 24 vs 12 mp for the same photo.

YES

But if I take a picture with each from the same position with the same lens and then crop the FX to the same field of view as the DX will I have a better picture? Or will I have a 12 mp picture the same quality as the DX?

YES in principle probably only 10MP

Your FX 24 will work at a lower iso in the same light so better and be more modern so better
If you want to stick with DX get a D7100 or D7200. If you are using a D90 in 2020 you are not a gear freak.

Why would you want to use Manual .. Aperture mode is the way to go...I think your problem is you don't have the auto iso activated ..I suggest 200-6400 min shutter 1/60

If you buy a new flash Yongnuo is a great brand but be sure it says its ittl compatible for Nikon. Some are only slaves.

Just checked out the Voking ..should work fine on the D7200

have you checked the back focus and if jpeg are you at +9 on the sharpness? If you dont do both of these you are wasting your time .

Change to Nikon everything sensor wise is better than Canon. I suggest the D850 rather than the Z7 particularly if you do birds

If its mirrorless then back/front focus problems dont exist but if its a DSLR then the lens needs to be matched to the camera or all images will be out of focus unless you are lucky. dont forget if you are a jpeg shooter to up the sharpness to +9 in the menu. All nikons come out the factory set soft.

There is no point in trying to use any 300 or 500 mm lens on a camera that does not have fine focus adjust so a D7100 up would be the minimum.

First the 200-500 is a far superior lens to the 28-300 having used 2 of them for weddings for many years .
Second a 300mm is a 300mm and will put the same size image on the sensor whatever the crop factor . The lens does not become 450mm its still 300. Its all abou pixels on Image and the 200-500 will give you more and a lot sharper
