A friend suggested my shot be converted to B&W
To me the original color had more dark areas with less detail, so the B & W and the hybrid were much better.

Digitizing 35mm slides to jpeg's
I built a rig that used my camera and a 100mm macro lens. I think the rig was shown by someone on this site. Utube also had examples plus some ideas on a light source. I compared the results with that from a epson 600 flatbed. The camera results were much better and considerably faster.

Topaz AI & DXO Photolab 6

The free trial of Topaz did not allow me to save the files processed only view unless the software was purchased. DXO trial version did allow me to save. Sorry for the confusion.

Topaz AI & DXO Photolab 6
I have both DXO raw and Topaz AI. DXO works great on my raw files with little effort so I use it on raw. You do get very large files from it. Topaz AI takes more manipulation on user’s part, but is good for jpeg and tiff files. I have been scanning old photos and Topaz improves the results. I’ve also used Topaz after DXO with improved results. Download a trial copy. You can save results with DXO but not Topaz. You can compare results.
