I came so so close to purchasing this lense but went with 100-400
This lense was listed for under $200 when I saw it. That is an impossibly good deal.

There are really not a lot of options for this range. 650-1300
You would need a crane to carry the canon version.

Please continue this thread.

I would go with the pro 100. On cost

Good paper and good printing skills should get prints that are in the wow category.

If you are not printing more than a dozen or so prints every few weeks I would consider farming out volume intensive printing
Also farming out larger format archival quality prints to a photo printing lab.

The cost to go with dye ink and larger format seems unjustified. But if $1500 this way or that way doesn't matter then go for it.

I would definitely start with canon pixma pro. It can't be beat on price.

Please let us know how and what you are shooting.
Not many microscope picture threads.

I have a t2i and I like shooting in av mode with auto iso. I then play with the f stop. Start from the lowest setting f4 or whatever the lense can do. 2.8 or 1.8 for the 50mm.
I find 2 to 3 stops up give the best results
F7 your in heaven.

Then with just 1 variable to adjust you can look at your histogram and exit data to get a feel for how the camera reacts to different light.

Definitely get an intervalometer and a tripod.
Have fun

Lower the aperature. Start with a 50mm 1.8
That will keep your shutter speed up.

Church lighting is challenging. Great low light practice.

I shot a communion for a friend and what an experience.

I did B roll pickup shots the day before and figured out where I wanted to sit for the ceremony.
The pros set up and after about 5 mins they realized they were compete ly out of position.
The one then walked right in front of me in order to block my shots. She felt she was more important than the ceremony.
I sat the whole time, quiet and no flash.
She then tried to kick me out of the church. Saying she was a Profesional and I had to leave.
I told her to be quiet and that there was no way she was kicking me out of a church.

The parents never got her photos and my pictures are the only record of the event.

My first encounter with the paparazzi.

They used flashes, tripods and were about as disruptive as possible.

Don't be that person. Stick with natural light and capture the event without being part of the event.

That would be a state record if you caught it in deleware.
25 lbs looks like the biggest official. I guess bigger have been caught in bracken and salt waters but do not count.
I personally have caught over 200 walleye but never over 3lbs.

I would like to see the mounted version.
Quite a trophy.

Keeper for sure.
I like the realisum.
I think you should do another version and overcook it to see what you can do with it.
I think this one has more in it.
Fix the horizon, go 16x9, reframe slightly and just add a little more pop. Either the water or the funnel cloud could use some more exageration.

Do a few more versions print a test and consider this a candidate for metal.
Nice work.

You asked some good questions. I wish I had better technical answers.
All I know is a rectilinear produces much better images.
I use a gopro for action shots on a head camera due to the affordable cost.
I also shoot video with a 12-24 rectilinear tokina on a crop.
That seems to be wide enough for almost anything. It is also very forgiving to focus for video. I would get a wider rectilinear but it is just way way out of my price range.
I cannot stand the fisheye effect for the most part. A novelty or a convienence is the only reason to use it.

The canon 11-24 full frame is the widest rectilinear I know of $2600.

15 mm is the limit for a reasonable super wide rectilinear lens.

Nice post

I would not worry about the sky.
They dumped all the waste from the Manhattan project just north of the city in cold creek

Anyways I'm not religious but make sure you hit the church of St Louis NW of the city. Best mosaic tile examples probably in the world.
Best kept secret. Every inch of that church is a stunning work of art that will bring you to tears.
I don't even like mosaics.

The Tokina 12-24 was my best lense purchase for sure. I paid $150 used
For sure there are better super wide angle Lenses but I would rather buy a second car.

Now I have a wider angle than my cell phone.
If you can't outdo you cell phone what is the point of a dslr?

Most useful lense in the bag. Best for the money. Great for video.

Sorry I can't compare the two but I vouch for the Tokina.

Just taking a wild shot at something I know very little about (my perogative as a uhh member)

Would the parallax effect help a 3d image. I know it is now a video clip and not an image

I believe 3d could and will one day will be super awesome.

3d movies have been promised since before I was born and never really delivered anything other than promises and headaches.

3d photographs are the same. When it works one out of 50 times it is great.

What if you used a 3d paralax effect with a 3d image.

I have wanted to mess with 3d but have not seen great results from even the pros.

I comend you for tackling such a difficult area of photography.

Perhaps a question for the pros
Walgreens wants $3.99 for a 8x10
And I saw Costco had them for 1.79.
I print on the canon pro 100 and am guessing my cost is about $2.50. With paper.

So if you were to do 8x10 photo prints
What would be the break even?. $5

What is the going rate? $25

I have done several shoots for free and made prints as part of a learning experience.

Now that I am an ok photographer and can output a package in a timely manner I would not mind asking for money for the suppleies.

I think if Jerry did not have to pay for the supplies (Mostly printing costs)
It could have been a nice experience.

No one seems to be that impressed with the van

Its basically a camera museum on wheels. High concept and high execution.
Definitly a work of art. Probably worth 10's or possibly 100's of thousands.

Unfourtunatly it evokes disdain, sadness, revultion and a pointlessness
Not the 1st time this has happened to a great piece of art.

Amazing piece and a cool share.

Perhaps using this interactively would be fun. I would make a stop to see this in person and take pictures lol
