I bought a new computer (Lenono all-in-one desktop) and worked very late last night to reload PSP PRO X9. I kept getting a “Script” error after it loaded. I did a lengthy chat and did several updates that were recommended. We could never resolve the issue! I removed PSP and loaded a free GIMP program. I am very new at photo editing so using some of this stay at home time to work through some of the GIMP tutorials.

I have used PSP since Version 3 on XP. They are now at yearly based numbers ver 2020. I seem to recall using ver. 9 was the 207 version and I had used it on Win 7 with no issues. When I updated my PC to Win 10, I loaded 2019 and now use 2020. Both 2019 and 2020 loaded on Win with no issues whatsoever. I have to wonder if V9 has a Win driver issue. Also, you don't say whether you're trying to load the 32 or 64 bit version.

Greetings. I have viewed a myriad of YouTube videos and searched "The Google" for information for a plan to dispose of Black and White photo chemistry such as: Kodak D-76, Dektol, regular stop bath, rapid and regular fixer. I'm inquiring for information from those with personal knowledge, and their workflow, in the disposal of this chemistry in a rural setting which involves the use of, or avoidance of, a ground installed gravity septic system. Starting a lab up again after decades of being without one... Thanks in Advance! OA

Typically your town would have a hazmat disposal plan for garbage that is picked up ie used motor oils and such. Our town (rural) has a hazmat disposal day annually where you can take it and they will accept things like chemicals, paints, solvents, oils, etc. Another way is to phone a local Waste Management or Hazmat Disposal entity and see what it would cost to give it to them for proper disposal.

Just my thoughts.

I resolved my photo transfer issue from my Nikon D7200 to my All In One Lenovo computer. Thanks for all of the help and advice! Now I am looking for help and advice in using Paint Shop. This is new to me since I have just retired and now have more time to pursue my dream to become a better photographer. Any Paint Shop Pros out there? Thanks.

I am a PSP user, perhaps advanced but would not exactly say pro. I love the program and am always learning more. I am using the 2020 Ultimate 64-bit version. I shoot Raw and the 2020 version reads the Cr3 Raw files from my EOS-R.

You can use virtually any PS plugin or even older Nik plugins with the 32 bit version (both versions are included in the purchase). I do find that I'm using more and more Topaz plugins with PSP, but the core PSP product is a great tool. I don't make much use of the Pic to Painter or the Particleshop plugin as I'm not much of an artist, but for the price and what it can do, IMHO PSP can't be beat. It mimics PS in so many ways I would think Adobe would be suing for infringement. If you can use PS, you can use PSP. I put it between Elements and the full PS.

There a ton of Youtube videos out there, Corel also does a tone of webinars. Just register your product. What do you want to know?

Google Paintshop Pro and you will find many UTube Tutorials. PSP X8 will take all the plugin that you feed it.
Stick with X8 because 2020 has been screwed up regarding plugin additions. The evil called Greed is in the programmers and marketing souls trying to sell Corell Plugins. My guess is that the accounting people are out for loot. What a shame. I was able to go into programs>plugins of an older X8 and copy the plugin file then paste into 2020... why do that to us, most people do not go into the depth of the computer and expect things to be straight forward... and then try to sell Corel PSP plugin.... LOW DOWN DEALING

EDIT does not come up with "complete-workspace." In complete-workspace, you can add plugin.
Once you have complete workspace then you can follow:
https://www.wikihow.com/Install-Paint-Shop-Pro-Plugins

They certainly do not make it easy for 3rd party Plugin... in a form the corel rep reply was not how to rather it was Corel could not grarntee the stability of 3 party plugins..... completely avoiding how to install 3 party.
Thank you UTEP65... now I know the not obvious...

Not sure I agree, but each setup is admittedly different. I have 2020 Ultimate and use a wide variety of mostly Topaz but have other plugins. The way to associate them in is something bizarre, but I even use Topaz Studio (which can be used as a standalone) as a plugin.

I've also not had an issue with a complete edit workspace. They did give another workspace for beginners or other users, but you can shut this off in preferences. BTW, that's where you define where your plugins are. Just point to them in file locations. There are Youtube Videos showing how to do this.

I would like some advice on the best editing software for a Hobbyist....Photoshop,,Elements,,Lightroom,,Light,,Classic,,Stant alone,,Subsciption. HELP if you can?????

Chg_Canon (as usual) gives sage advice.

My two cents as a hobbyist myself, don't leave Corel's Paintshop Pro off your trial list. To me it's a product that is seriously underrated. I believe it falls in between PS and Elements. It is able to use PS plugins and when warranted I use it with Topaz DeNoise AI, Adjust AI, Sharpen AI and Mask AI. It's available for a 30 day trial and a one time cost of $59-79 when they have their sales. I get the updates bi-annually on Good Friday weekend for $29. I'm not in favor of subscriptions, everything seems to be going there today and I understand all the arguments pro and con, but for me I want to buy software once and decide whether or not to update.

I am interested in selling my heavy gear -
4. What else? I could put "all sales final" but that might scare off interested honorable buyers.

Thank you in advance. Linda

I've sold tons of things on ebay, Craig'slist and Facebook Marketplace. Cash in your hand is the only way to gauge a buyer. If you're the seller, it's your integrity that's being questioned. Only the tracking number helps assure you've sent something.

Regardless of who buys, you have to ship it. Take Youtube with a grain of salt, everyone's an expert there, you have to take a step back and ask if you'd be moved by some random video done at the Post Office. Who's going to watch it and how long are you going to waste making it? As Jerry mentions, I'd be awfully angry if you were wasting my time packing a box at the PO counter and other people, both customers and PO employees) will not appreciate being recorded in your personal video. In the end, the hassle of all that isn't worth it and you'd be better off selling to BH. You can also try KEH, they give decent prices.

If you're going to include some statement, I wouldn't be too concerned about saying "all sales final", you're not a merchant and it's a one time sale. It's more that there is "No Refund or Return". In addition I'd put- "Equipment is Sold As Is with No Warranties Express or Implied." These shouldn't scare anyone as they will appreciate it's a private sale. They may ask questions about it or ask you to send a jpg of the gear. Your responsiveness and forthcoming nature will demonstrate your integrity.

What a stupid question? Can somebody who owes the Godox trigger-receiver tell me if this is feasible?
I would like to use radio trigger Godox to slave a flash behind the subject but at the same time use the camera flash to fire (Nikon 7100). So I would have a trigger in the camera hot shoe ! Can I still open camera flash?

On the pictures it looks like not possible - Godox TX-16 2.4G trig (that with a small antenna on top)- blocking full flash opening.

Thank you . Miro

Not really a dumb question, I thought the same when I bought some Godox gear. What you may want to consider is to buy the Godox shoe mounted flash that mounts right on your hot shoe and can act as a master or slave to another godox transceiver. They make them for varied camera lines including Nikon and have varied models . Although I don't use mine this way, it can be a master or slave.

I have Lightroom 6 and Photoshop 5 and have been watching YouTube videos trying to learn how to use them. Even the basic videos seem to cover too much info at a time. The next issue is what is the proper picture. What needs adjusting. With all this high powered processing software I end up selecting auto adjust and leave it at that. It is totally overwhelming to me. I am really enjoying my Nikon d750 and shoot in M, one card raw and one jpeg. The processing stuff is just not fun. HELP.

While this may be old school, visit a Barnes and Nobel and buy either a book on the basics of PS or subscribe to with PhotoPlus Nikon or PhotoPlus Canon magazine. Those magazines while specifically geared towards the particular camera, have a PS lesson every month and usually include a DVD in them to learn from incrementally. The DVD is professionally produced and geared to one lesson at a time. You'll be surprised how much you will learn if you go at it with a "walk before you run" approach.

While I too watch Youtube videos, they are not for basics, and depending on who is making them, there is only so much information they give. Despite anyone with webcam being a Youtube "star", very few of them are or know how to be a real instructor. Many are self indulgent or all about "me". They're simply there for views and ad revenue. When watching and it's just so so and I hear "If you like, subscribe to my channel" I just fast forward.

To publish a book, you have to pass the muster of content and edit professionals. To me that's the way to learn something.

So the tariff won't fix it. It's too late to fix it now but it could be avoided if consumers like us simply didn't buy them. I did my job avoiding buying Chinese products but I am only one man.

Not to fuel any type of political discussion, but more to lighten the issue. There was a 1990 funny romantic comedy movie called Crazy People that starred Dudley Moore and Daryl Hannah. Patients at a behavioral institution developed ads for major companies. The ending ad was for Sony and why their electronic products were better than those made by Americans. Enjoy a good laugh.

All those that need Webcams. Why not use your DSLR or mirrorless. They do an awesome job. My Canon cartridges ate made in Japan also but I refill with Precision Ink products

When you're on 8-10 Zoom meetings a day for anywhere between 15 min to 1 hour for each, you don't want to burn up hours on your nice camera. I have a nice Logitech webcam that I use for work and teaching online for Purdue University. Many try to use cameras on their laptop or cellphones, but like anything else there are those who present professionally and those who are lounging around in pj's or can't hold a stable connection on their cell and the meetings become rather unproductive while we wait for them to connect/reconnect. I'd rather not use my webcam at all rather than present like that.

For home I use a Brother laser and the dirt used in the cartridge lasts for a good long time. Don't have a nice color printer but I have been looking at them. In looking at color printers, interestingly the Canon line seemingly hasn't changed much in years. I am somewhat surprised at the cost to replace ink cartridges.

I started using Topaz Al back in January 2020
Look at some of my posting to see the results. I can now shoot at ISO 3200 to ISO 6400 and get rid of the noise and have a sharp photo.

Same experience here. I'm using both DeNoise AI and Sharpen AI as plugins with Corel's Paintshop Pro 2020 with really good results.

I was thinking about checking into having my ISO bearings replaced or at least checked.

Some people go to one of the quick garages to have this done. I bought an ASA wrench and do it myself. I use a stiff dark card to catch the raw material and experience has taught me to use graduated filter to sort out big to small contaminants and of course a speedy light to see under the dark hood. Many times I even put a bracket around the work so that nothing escapes while I'm working on those ISO bearings.

Ditto here. I also have the older Detail, newer Adjust and Mask AI. I am constantly impressed by how easy they are to use and how well they can help. I have my Topaz products setup as plugins to Corel's Paintshop Pro. The results are great. But like any software there are also those times where you can over do it and the processing is detrimental to the image. Try it, you'll like it.
