And I see a story of engineering, labor and the American spirit.
America does not need to be made great again, it is great. But,
it does need a lot of maintenance.

Maintenance is on-going! America IS great in many respects, labor and the American spirit being two. Thanks for looking!

Nice shot. The bridge (both sides) are old, narrow and somewhat scary with lots of traffic. I do my best NOT to close my eyes while driving on it.

Lots of traffic, for sure! Maintenance is on-going! Thanks for looking.

Good shot, fiat76! We've been over it many times! Our son in southern VA just called to say the bridge is closed due to the pending storm.

A different bridge, I believe, and thanks for taking a look! Appreciate your comment.

The almost sepia tones suit the steelwork very well.

Think you are referring to a different bridge, maybe the bridge tunnel just above Virginia Beach. Have not heard about any tunnel from Annapolis to the Eastern Shore.

Yes...there is also a bridge tunnel near Hampton Roads in southeastern VA. Might have been some local.chatter about possible solutions....not sure.

I think I will print this picture and put it in my glove compartment. The next time I'm stuck in traffic on top I'll look at it and be reminded what a nice bridge it is.

Very nice shot!!

LOL...hope that works for you! Fortunately for us, we do not commute daily to the other side!

Beautiful. When it came time to build the second span of the bridge, the son of the man who operated the machine for the first span was at the controls. Perfect timing.

Thanks, Jerry! Perfect timing is right. I marvel about the construction every time we go over it!

In the early 70’s I was stationed at the Naval station across from the Naval academy on a tiny submarine the USS X1 and we operated under that bridge many times working with the Naval research lab and the Naval underwater research center.

In our 11 years of being on the Bay (at the marina near Hemingway's), we only encountered one submarine. Thank-you for your service. My significant other was in the Navy on the USS Boston, a heavy missile cruiser. The sub guys attend their yearly reunions, and some of the stories about submarine life...takes a special breed to man a sub.

Very nice work! Used that crossing many a time in the old days during summer.

UT Mike, if you haven't crossed the Bay Bridge for some time, you would be amazed (and maybe distressed) at the changes/growth on the Eastern shore! There is "talk" about another span. Saturdays and Sundays in the summer on the bridge usually mean long delays going west (change-over at shore points) at certain times during the day. Hemingway's was remodeled several years ago; the view of the bridge there and at our marina is spectacular!
