These are always tough questions. My advise would be to handle both, check out their menus and easy of use. They are both excellent camera's and will serve you well. The one that feels best to YOU is the one you should buy.

Trying understand you issue with the "Q" menu. I find in convenient and very quick and easy to use. Definitely would not consider it a PITA.

The EF 75-300 f4-5.6 IS USM IS happens to be an excellent lens. Don’t confuse it with the 75-300 kit lens.
