Kevin, there is a clever item called a "Steadify". I would describe it as a short, light weight monopod that comes with a small ball head at one end and a plate with a belt on the other end. I removed the belt and put the plate under me and coming up between my legs. The monopod part is easily adjustable to length and it works great for holding a large lens steady for better images.

I’m a photographer of birds. I have both the 7DII & the 5DIV. My primary camera for BIF is the 7DII equipped with the 100-400 II. I stopped using the 500 f/4 after the 100-400II became available. The ease of use, the great burst speed and the high rate of keepers keeps this combination as my first choice.

In the middle of the winter, the roads can be iffy in either park. At MV you can drive yourself but a guide can take you to places you can’t get to by yourself. At Canyon de Chelly you have to use a guide to get into the canyon but the drive around the rim can get you some spectacular views. Only negative is I had trouble with Antelope House Tours in the past. Dress warm and have a great time.

I've been to Monument Valley a number of times and I will tell you a GOOD guide can make the difference between snap-shots and terrific images. So here is the best in my opinion: "Phillips Photography Tours" at 928-429-0040. Tully Begay, who works for Phillips, is my favorite. Tully knows what photographers are looking for and how to make the best of the light. From past experiences with guides, I'd give Phillips an "A++."

Jim, congrats on still wanting to get out and do things. I too use a mobility scooter and my normal carry lens is a 100-400. Sometimes I use the steering devise for my elbows but most of the time I carry and use a really cool product called a "Steadify." For simplicity I'll say it's a very small monopod that at one end has a 4X6" plate that normally has a belt attached. I removed the belt and stick that end between my legs and sit on that plate. At the other end is either a "Y" adapter or a receiver for a Arca-Swiss tripod plate. The monopod it adjustable in length and this product makes using a DSLR with a somewhat long lens very manageable and fun. Help with sharpness? Yes. Best and keep that shutter button finger active.

Very cool Abo. Not much processing involved, thanks to my stupidity. I size um, adjust the brightness and color and sharpen them a little. Basically, that's all I do because I don't know how to do more. If my image required more then it isn't an image I'm going to keep. Thanks for your time.

My lens is the Canon 100-400 mk II. It's a wonderful lens that I also use for butterflies, dragonflies, flowers and much more.

Occasionally, I have to pinch myself to see if I actually captured these images or was I just dreaming. At this time of year, I can be found spending hours once a week taking plenty of hummingbird images. I may take thousands of images in a day but most go in the king size trash bin of my computer. I often hope for multiple birds in one image and sometimes miracles happen. Thanks for taking the time to look and comment.

I use a Think Tank Lens Taxi and have always been satisfied with it. I also use it for my 500 as well as my 100-400 with lens hood extended and camera attached.

Actually that’s a delightful photo of a damselfly. Same family as a dragonfly but a number of differences. A dragonfly head is almost all eyes whereas the damselfly has a very wide head with the eyes located out on the sides. Dragonflies keep their wings extended out when landed whereas generally speaking the damselfly brings it’s wings back alongside it’s more skinny body. So what you have is a terrific damselfly image.

Not to be confused with the Canon 60D, this classic is much older but works perfectly fine. I used this camera to capture images of hummingbirds on Sunday (image attached). The camera comes with 3 good batteries and the double charger, 28-80 mk II lens with lens cap and lens hood, instruction manuals, Canon software and the original box with the $2699.00 price sticker. I'm located in New Mexico and can ship anywhere in CUS. Asking $145.00 plus shipping. Why am I selling this camera? I replaced this great camera with an even greater 5D IV and boy there is a difference. LOL

I see RR whenever I get to the Botanic Gardens in Albuquerque or Santa Fe NM. No predators including you.
