Understood, but I wanted to use a sky background. Unfortunately, the halo is still there without the filter. That would have been great if it was as simple as that.

Looks like a trip to Nikon is in its near future.

Steve did you have the lens hood on or off when you tried without filter?

Lens has not been dropped. I’ll have to check which type of filter is on when I get home. I believe it is UV.

Take filter off and take a few test shots.

Wonderful photograph and memories, wondering if it is just me or did your gramps bear resemblance to Don Ameche.

From time to time people report that they dropped their cameras, causing damage to the camera or lens. Don't they use neck or wrist straps? Failing to use neck or wrist straps seems to me to be like riding in a car without wearing a seatbelt. What am I missing here?

Carelessness is what my dad would say! Accident is a description not a cause.

Should you post images that are not yours on the UHH forrum without saying they are not yours?

Speaking for myself I never would. Don't think it should be allowed I just don't know UHH could find out.

Does anyone have experience using fake fruit for still life fine art photos. I mean the high-quality kind. I am just now beginning to shoot still life and, frankly, fresh fruit has gotten too expensive to practice with. Also, if you know of a way to improve the surface of fake fruit for photographic purposes, I would like to hear it. Any input will be appreciated.

Bob

How about using artificial fruit to learn how you want it placed, displayed, lightening and camera placement. Then switch out for the real fruit for artwork, some small adjustments maybe needed.

Picture was taken from our backyard in South Carolina.

Robdale; Nothing less expected from God's country, Great photograph. The bad thing about South Carolina is during the summer it's located on the hinges of hell.

The mirrorless lenses are hands-down better in every single model.
The mirrorless cameras have the newer / newest processors that will never be updated into the DSLRinosaurs.
DSLRinosaurs will never have IBIS.
DSLRinosaurs will never have silent shutters (electronic shutters with no mechanical parts).
Top MILC bodies, now even Canon's mid range mirrorless, have frames per second that run multiple laps around DSLRinosaurs stuck the tarpits.
Mirrorless have all the AF innovations never to be updated into DSLRinosaurs.
Mirrorless bodies can adapt any brand's SLR-mount lenses, enabling all sorts of lenses with IBIS and focus peaking technology for better results than ever on their legacy bodies.

It's not even a competition. If someone tells you they can't see the difference in an image from a mirrorless camera, they're lying.

All that and you still shoot FILM!
I think all the mirrorless owners should destroy all their photos that were taken before their beloved mirrorless.
Or how about this; you use what you like I will use what I like and let's not degrade each other's equipment.
