I paid big bucks for my D90 OEM Grip, went belly up in the middle of a shoot, the camera functioned OK when I removed it. I did prefer the camera with the grip attached, very comfortable.
I bought a non OEM from China for my D810, works well, came in what looks like a Nikon Box complete with documentation. But it sure makes the camera a super heavyweight.

I am in to calligraphy, I bought a very nice pen from China $6.00, writes, better than my expensive Parkers and Sheaffers.
Thanks for the reminder I have $2.50, to spend, like you I have lost a couple.

We rode along alligator alley South Florida, some years ago, there seemed to be a bald eagle or osprey's nest on every pylon, quite near the motorway. We even saw an alligator on the side of the road. I think I saw a panther run across the road, but it was so quick and far away.

I lost an SD Card once in North Carolina, whilst visiting relatives and friends, called everyone on the phone, to no avail, two years later I found it in Florida, in the key pocket in my jeans, been washed several times, it still worked

I sold a Canon on EBay, the only bidder/purchaser was a repair centre in Georgia, they low balled me, but it was off my hands, but if you want to make an offer, I have a good Canon G5X with a stuck out lens.
