Good point. I am wondering if having them all on the computer would make managing and editing them materially faster. The Mac will be backed up on carbonite and an external.

I have close to 600 gb of photos and videos on a ssd drive which I use with my 2015 MacBook Pro with only 256 gb hard drive. Is there an advantage to transferring all photos and videos to new computer or should I continue to use the external?

Here we are on days 2 and 3 of our 18 day backpack on rarely visited Cummings Mesa. Looking down 1200' onto our camp we climbed up from, coming back from checking out a possible Anasazi ruin, looking across at a route up Cummings and across to ever present Navajo Mountain. Needless to say, we say not a single other person in those 18 days.

I don’t usually comment on posted photos, but these are of a spectacular place and awe-inspiring.

Nice catch. Why are they named catbirds?

Here are a couple more. These are from a color slide and a digital raw file.

In most cases, these took only a few minutes to create in Photoshop.

Very interesting results. Thanks.

The "big name" (and some smaller) software are available for free trials. For now, you could try PS Elements for something a little less complicated than the full Photoshop.

Just pick one and start your journey!

Thanks for your advice.

To be honest, I really don’t know. I’m just interested in exploring what it can do. I guess I’d say my goal is to have fun, and maybe improve and maybe make my best photos more interesting.

I’ve run a search on uhh and found nothing recent. Please let me know if I have missed something.

I use Apple Photos. I have dabbled in lightroom. I have not previously used an editing program. Now I read about all the advances in AI and wonder what I am missing.

Please advise on how to get started with AI editors and which ones should I consider?

Thanks.

I doubt that you would find this funny if members of your family were experiencing the h**e directed at these human beings. Typical “florida man.” A Loser just like your hero.

Which god? As I understand, when the ancients observed something that did not have a ready explanation, they attributed it to one of several gods.

We had a severe thunderstorm north of us last night. It put on quite a show and I heard tornado sirens going off in several nearby villages. Unfortunately we didn’t get a drip of rain, which we badly need. I did fire off about 600 shots.

Forgive the crappy method of taking a photo of the computer screen. iPhones are a royal pain and mine will not read any files from my pc. My computer programmer son thought he had it set up so that I could fire up the hotspot on the phone to load pix from my computer to the cloud and then could pull the photos off the cloud back onto my phone. As you can see that didn’t work.

As for the photos, I found the best settings were 2.8-4, iso 250-400 and 2-6 seconds. It was difficult to capture the lightning bolts without them being washed out by all of the in cloud lighting.
We had a severe thunderstorm north of us last nigh... (show quote)

What do you think the ancients thought when they saw such a display?
