First ensure the tutorial you are watching is for the correct version of Lightroom - i.e. Lightroom CC or Lightroom Classic. These are two different programmes.
Version 6.x and before would be similar to Lightroom Classic, but Lightroom CC is relatively new.

Here is another one - if you like this then I will try to do something about the leaning over door in the background and the pink radiator.

You have attached a Canon raw file, so no thumbnail will show on UHH. It can be downloaded and edited, however. Did you want to include some specific instructions and/or problems you've had in your own attempts? How much experience do you have editing raw, and what software do you own?

This is the original thread with other photos - it might help to understand what it is all about:

Try this for size -- I have no idea what the colours should be - if they are not correct just say.

Ok--my son-in-law is an IT person, and he has found the photos on the computer. They loaded into my ON program, but refuse to go into LR. He can put them anywhere but in LR. He has determined that it’s a glitch in my LR 5.7 program. Next question: If I re-install my LR 5.7, will my old catalog automatically transfer into the re-install?

Rename one of the files then import it into LR. I that works, then do the same for all the other (missing - now found) files.

Need help finding a font

I have been trying to find this font or something very very close to it. Anybody have any ideas where I might look? I have looked a quite a number of 3D and 4D fonts but nothing close so far.
Thanks.
Huey

I think this is home made, have a look at this video (uses Photoshop)

From the bottom up, you should most certainly not use the raw processor that come with Affinity Photo. It's capabilities are mediocre but much more importantly it is forced destructive of your work. This is nearly unheard of with a raw converter. I can think of only one other (free) raw converter that does this. When you click Develop in Affinity's Develop persona it converts your raw file to an RGB image which is moved to the Photo Persona and it dumps all the work you just did in the Develop persona. You can't go back and tweak or change anything -- you have to start over. That's nuts!

Your statement concerning Affinity is absolutely incorrect. A raw file can be destroyed by disassembling and reassembling the code, but not by using the Develop Persona of Affinity Photo.

A raw file opened in Affinity will automatically open in the Develop Persona and a copy of the image will be made and displayed on the screen. (a raw file cannot be viewed directly as it is not an image file in the same way as a jpeg, tiff or png. The results of the image manipulation in the Develop Persona is then opened in the Photo Persona. This so far, is the same methodology as Photoshop - start in ACR and end in the main editing section of Photoshop.

The image can be with saved as an .afphoto image (equal to a .psd image), or exported from Affinity as one of several different formats - tiff, jpeg, raw, png, eps etc., but the raw file will still be on your disc, unscathed, untouched and unaltered.

I would be most interested in how you arrived at the conclusions you stated, and what is the free program which you state also will destroy raw files.

I have the Yongnuo 968N flash on my Nikon D7509 camera. I am trying to trigger the flash off camera, using my built in flash on the D750 as the commander. I set my D750 to commander mode, mode A, channel 1. I set the 968 to slave mode, mode A, channel 1, but cannot get the 968 to fire. What am I doing wrong?

Have you raised the flash on the camera? (I have often set up everything, shot, no flash, pondered and realised I had forgotten to raise the built in flash.)

I have made greetings card templates for Word:

Page Layout: set the spread size (9x7 or 9 x 14 depending on if the card is to fold or not fold
Set the outer margins
Set the gutter if the car is a folding one
Show grid if you need it.

Save as a template and open it for use for each different card.

Whichever method, don't forget to set your printer to custom size for the paper or card.

My Word is v.2007 but newer versions may have guides as well which will make it easier. I now use Photoshop and/or Affinity to make greetings cards. If you have MS Publisher it is very easy to make the template but commercial printers will probably reject it. It is good for home use, as is Affinity Publisher and Affinity Designer.

I made an inadvertent click while in Affinity. Now when I open a RAW image I don't get the menu on the lower right for making adjustments. The one with "Basic" "Lens", I think Tone is in there, Overlay. I've been messing with it for an hour and I just can't bring up that menu. The help section says when you open a raw image it goes automatically to "Develop Persona" which it does. And these features I mentioned are available. I know it must be something stupid on my part but I just can't figure it out. I have attached a picture of what I get in that spot when I do open a RAW image. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for this - actually, it turns out that this basic approach can be used, even with all three names, if you put them in a single rule. The system treats that rule as an OR statemen, as in "if the keywords contain Cecil OR Beanie OR Lambchop.

I learned that from a member of the Lightroom Queen forum (www.lightroomqueen.com) - it's worth joining (it's free) as there is a lot of expertise there (well, for LR users).

Thanks to all who answered - I appreciate the help.

That's good info, thanks.

what makes the image, some of the background is in focus whilst the majority is out.

I was trying to help you decide if you picture was sharp enough for your purposes. Since you targeted the focus close to the subject's eye, and since all of her face and most of her hair is indicated as having sharp pixels, I (perhaps incorrectly) thought this may help in your decision.

Whenever I tryout a new lens I always use this method as a first test. If targeting a face using say f/5.6, then I would expect the subject to be sharp and the sky totally out of focus. Other posters have mentioned a "softness" overall in the image; I would test this by photographing a chart or even a newspaper.

I have photographed many faces and if too sharp, become unflattering, rarely are they sharp in real life.
