Pictures like yours, nicely done by the way, make me very glad I live in Phoenix.

At the moment I snapped the picture, I might have envied you for living in Phoenix. Today it is in the 70's here. I'm too old to deal with a Phoenix summer.

Thanks for the kind words.

Personally, I don't think that pole bothers the photo one bit--it shows the reality of the scene to me. Sometimes reality is what the photo is all about, and I think you've accomplished that here. Those who see only the pole aren't looking very closely.

Good job.

Thanks for the nice words.

When I mentally take out the pole and think about the colors, the weather conditions, available lighting and content, this all adds up to the possibility of a great one. A little more stalking for that perfect position to capture the best image and bingo, you hit the photography jackpot. Remember where this is and go back next winter, after some snow cover. Circle it like a hunter, before you squeeze off that killer shot. Autumn colors may offer a great shot too. You have found a great opportunity. Looking forward to seeing your next shoot.

Thanks for the encouragement and advice. It will be easy to find for another try. I can see it from my back deck.

Find a way to shoot around the telephone pole.

Thanks for your comment. Seeing it through another person's eyes the pole does dominate picture. Poor composition.

I see that you live in our 51st state, the state of Confusion. I've been there many times :-)

Photos with snow in them need some exposure compensation on the plus side, or some brightening in some simple image editor such as Picasa or FastStone Image Viewer, both free downloads.

This one has a blue cast, which is OK if that is the effect you want. Decreasing the blue as well as brightening will give it some "snap".

Thank you for your suggestion. I was going for the cold desolation that I remember of the 50's. Obviously it didn't work.

Took this after one of last winter's snowfalls. The scene evoked memories of my childhood in a rural community. The shot is SOOC. Constructive comments are welcome.

So what are the chances that she financed it in order to get back in the news?

A triple threat! Also nice composition, good shot, and appealing subject. How can you miss?

Thanks for the link. This girl is a very interesting artist. Of course her accent doesn't hurt anything either. She had a brilliant idea. Her little troupe is almost Hollywood in the attention to and execution of detail. Thanks again for sharing.

Excellent link. Thanks for posting. I'm afraid I see myself in one or two of them. Working on it.

Some truly beautiful photos. The colors are overwhelming. I love the way the dock underlines the angry clouds in #5. Thanks for posting them.

Hi all,
we had severe thunderstorm yesterday. We had super heavy rain with strong winds. At 7.30 pm, when rain had stopped, I looked through the window to the West, I noticed that heavy clouds had started clearing up after the rain stopped. I rushed to the Park in the hope to get nice sunset colors as I knew that it usually happens after a thunderstorm. When I reached the Park, Sun was till showing up but there were not many clouds in that area. I was kind of disappointed that I will not get colors in this situation. When the sun went down and just after ten minutes, the sky started filling up with light clouds and they were getting colors from the setting sun and reflecting it on the water. After ten more minutes, I saw such a tremendous show of colors in the sky and on the water which I had not seen before. I was kind of confused what to do and how to capture the colors. I was running from one side to other of the fishing pier and some time to the boats. I was not much thinking about the composition but just looking at the colors. The show went on for half an hour or so. I share the photos which have red, purple, orange, blue, pink and yellow colors.

Don't mess with senior citizens! Kinda saw that coming. Very similar to the one about an IRS agent and a grizzled old guy and taking a leak on the IRS agents desk and a lawyer and a large amount of late fees.

Sounds like another good one.
