I have a friend looking for a good deal on a carbon fiber tripod. I thought someone might be able to offer her one at a reasonable price. If you have one, please let me know. Thanks.

I don’t understand this post from a experienced seller of photo equipment here on UUH with no size, weight, or head mentioned?

Primes

Please excuse me for my recent ramblings. It’s just that I’m enduring a temporary health issue that has me bedridden. I suppose it’s the extra time on my hands, and just trying to occupy it in any way possible. I assure you that I’ll lay low and try not to become a nuisance to the groups. And to make matters worse, I can’t grab the new D780 and make some snaps. 😢

Anyways, back to the intended subject. Does anyone miss shooting with the older, smaller, compact primes? I have and use the Tamron SP 20-40, Nikon 24-120 f/4 VR and the Nikon 70-200 f/4 VR glass, and I really like them. But have you noticed that today’s modern primes are as large and heavy as zooms? Being a prolific street shooter, I find it so liberating when I just screw on a small prime and blast away. I find it more liberating, and conducive to creative image making.

There is no right or wrong approach. We should all do what works for us individually. Just my take on photography. 🤔

Selling to fund a new purchase. The glass is in perfect condition. There are no scratches, fungus or separations. The body is in excellent condition; there are no scuffs or scrapes. The focus ring turns smoothly. The aperture ring is snappy. The Defocus ring, and the A/M ring both function smoothly. 9 bladed aperture produces very nice bokeh.

The lens comes with the original front and rear caps, and a Nikon CL-38 hardcase to store the lens.
Will consider offers.

Photography is not a sport like golf where the low score wins. Rather, the measure of success is success. One great image is an undefeated season. It doesn't matter how many <Delete>s occurred prior to that image. Michael Jordan wasn't the greatest because he practiced really hard. He's the greatest because he has six championships and no defeats.

Photography is like golf, hunting and fishing so far as the pursuit of the next one.

I know to put my camera in a freezer bag when I anticipate gowing from cold to warm and leaving the gear alone for a couple of hours. But what about this scenario? I'm jumping in and out of my car taking shots on a very cold day?

I wouldn't go to any extra prep for a possible "jump out shot" warm to cold. I find more condensation issues going from a cold to warm.

I would save and buy one used on eBay, and if it wasn't worth the money you to then you should have no problem selling it. Worth the wait when one is available. ($325-$475)
