That's exactly what I did about 30 minutes ago. They were $599 UNTIL THEY STARTED THIS SPECIAL. That will make up for the shipping I lost plus about $50 more in savings.

From the conversations I've had with Nikon and the dealers, including one a few minutes ago, the shutter is not replaced unless it isn't operating properly.

The last refurb I purchased had about 200 actuations on it.

As we all know there are pros and cons with purchasing a Refurbished camera or lens. If you purchase a manufacturer refurbished camera from a reputable company, you can normally get a great deal. I have made such purchases several times and have always been very happy with the items I received.

I received a Nikon Refurbished D7100 yesterday that I bought from a reputable seller. There was absolutely no difference in the appearance of this camera and a brand new one. I was a little shocked when I checked the shutter count and saw that it was 42,909. Although I feel sure it would have worked for a long time, I really didn't want a camera with a third of the shutter life used up.

I do understand that when purchasing Refurbished from Nikon USA or any of their authorized dealers, there is no guarantee what the shutter count will be. Once Refurbished, Nikon does not check the count, and the dealers don't open the sealed boxes to check the count, so it is somewhat of a chance we take.

The other cameras I have purchased were some of the first units that were Refurbished for that particular model; so I assume most were returned when the customer received them and saw they had a problem, or just changed their mind, therefore, they were used very little. Because the 7100 has been on the market for a long time, I suppose that means some were returned under warranty after being heavily used, maybe used by a pro.

Since I did purchase from Cameta, they immediately sent me a return authorization, so I returned the camera today. I'm out the postage, but it is worth it not to have a camera that looks brand new and has 43k shutter actuations.

Now I have to decide if I order another Refurbished unit for $579, go for a new one, or just go ahead and get a 610? It is hard to beat the deal of a 7100 for $579.

Adorama currently has the Tokino 100 Macro on sale for $379 with free shipping. Every review I've read on that lens has been very positive.

You are correct, it is 4-5.6.

All I know is I acquired it from some source between 1970 and now.

I found the problem. I noticed that something rattled when I shook the lens, so I opened it up. At some point, someone had worked on it and left a tiny screw in it. Also the internal ribbon cable has a tear in it from being stressed when the lens was opened. That is the reason for no auto functions.

It took me a while to get everything back together like it was (minus the loose screw), but it still works in full manual mode. As I said before, I don't remember how or when I got the lens, but I know I have never opened it. I don't remember ever using the lens, so I feel pretty sure I didn't purchase it.

In fact this is the first time I've opened any lens. Requires a little patience and precision handling. It obviously requires some care in handling the ribbon cable and making sure the screws go back where they should be. I guess it will go back in the box where I found it since I have trouble throwing things away.

The Refurbished $150 deal is already out of stock on the Canon website.

Thanks. I don't know why I didn't think of that.

I also had to set the Mode to Manual, because none of the auto functions are working. Obviously, there is an electronic problem with the lens.

I found a lens that I didn't even remember having. It is a Nikon 70-210 AF 4.5-5.6. It is not the D version.

When I mount it on my D200, it will not automatically focus, and the focus ring can not be moved by hand. The focus ring moves freely when not mounted on the camera. I assume this means there is a problem with the lens and not a compatibility issue?

I went through the eBay ad a couple times, but I completely overlooked that Warranty note. Thanks for pointing that out. I have scratched them from my list.

I will probably end up keeping my D2X and D200, because I like both of them. I may also decide to keep the D200 in my SUV.

Well, I've read about a thousand pages, looked at numerous comparison videos, read scores of reviews and listened to everyone's input (which I sincerely appreciate), and I have decided that, at this time, I am going to purchase a D7100. My plan is to use it for a few months, and if I decide to get an FX, I'll get an 810 when the price comes down on them even more. The 7100 will be a giant leap from the technology of my D2 and D200.

I have looked at many eBay postings and searched other sites for the best "trustworthy" price including shipping. Some of these include:

Refurbished: Nikon U.S.A. $599 with 90 day Nikon warranty
B&H $579 with 90 day Nikon warranty
Cameta $579 with 90 day Nikon plus 9 months Cameta warranty

Brand New: Photovideo4less $664.95

Photovideo4less has an excellent eBay rating(52,716 sales with 99.99% Positive feedback). I intend to call and make sure it is a U.S. version camera and everything is included in the box, but I assume it is with that rating. They also have a 30 day money back return policy.

I am leaning toward Cameta @ $579 or Photovideo @ $665 (if all checks out okay). I have purchased from Cameta before, and feel confident with their customer service.

Does anyone know of a better all around deal than the ones above?

Does anyone have experience with Photovideo4less?

Will my Nikon SB 800 and 600 flashes work on a D7100?

Out of the differences you quoted on the 750, the video might be the most attractive to me, but I'm not sure, because I have not used video on an SLR. Don't care about the WiFi and have mixed feelings about the flexible display screen. I see value in the moveable screen, but it looks like it would be the first think to break. Here again, I haven't handled one, so I don't know for sure.
