KEH is awful, and so am I. You have been terribly treated by both of us!

I bought a used camera! OMG! The nerve! It is "old!" What kind of person has old equipment?? I said I am going to give it away to someone who will use it! What was I thinking? What sort of person am I anyway??

I said I am going to give it away rather than sell it. They are selling for $200, 300, 400. That is in the same ballpark as the gear you are trying to sell.

The seller sent and received their used equipment back, I believe in both directions paid by KEH. So, it seems it was KEH that 'lost' money over this transaction. That cost of doing business has to go somewhere. Better them than me when I want to buy some more used equipment.

Just to confirm, I generated a quote just now. Included in the quote process was a) the prepaid shipping label and b) some very clear text about the expected timeline, screen copied below.

I fail to see how our OP is a victim here. Yes, I agree the lack of explanation is frustrating. But, I don't take anyone's word at unqualified face-value in these types of complaints. Our OP made a lot of assertions about the Like-New status of the equipment. That the equipment failed to meet this assessment when presented to the professionals at KEH, who do it everyday as a for-profit business, well, I don't default against KEH just because of what I read on the mustard colored pages at UHH.

You seem to be more flexible in accepting unsupported assertions. Good for you.

I inherited a bunch of camera gear about 10 years ago. There were some interesting items that I still use - focus rail, tripod - and a bunch of old Canon bodies and lenses. I sold a couple of items here. The KEH road show came to a camera store 100 miles away and I sold all of the remaining equipment to them. Everything was on the up and up and the prices were fair. They have to resell stuff, so of course you are selling to them at a discount. It was a great experience. The rep told me exactly what the market was like for each item and what they could sell the items for. Their markup on those items was absolutely fair and honest.

The way people here travel around the world and are able to buy the latest gear they obviously aren't hurting financially and it seems silly to quibble over the price they get for used equipment. They might consider giving their old gear away to someone who is starting out or is less fortunate.

I have a 5D II body that isn't getting much use now. I bought it used and it had a hell of a run for 8 years. No regrets. But I have no expectation of getting much money out of old equipment. I will probably give the 5D body away to someone who will use it.

Often the same people who insist on the latest and greatest brand spanking new equipment - no used stuff for them! - can't understand why they don't get top dollar for their used equipment.

About 2 months ago I got a quote from these folks for a Canon GS9, $175. I sent it off, 3 weeks later they offer me $148. That camera was new, in the box, extra battery and a case. Not worth arguing about, so took their offer. 3 weeks ago I sent in my Nikon 300mm PF after receiving their offer of $515. Took them 8 days to advise me they had received the lens, and another 8 days to send me their offer: $355. Really?? 3 weeks for them to change their offer on a like new lens, with everything that came in the box, and the box as well. No explanation. I called, waited 15 minutes to talk to someone who had no reason, so I told them to return it.

I personally will never do business with them again. When the lens is returned, I will post it here for $500, then if there is no interest it will go to B&H, who presently have offered $515.

A neighbor had their whole family in for Thanksgiving and wanted me to take their photos, different sets of people, etc. I told her I don't do people, but they insisted.

After some pp, I think the photos came out pretty good and so do they. I then had some 4x6 photos printed at CVS and had them pick out what they wanted.

Well, they do not want the glossy finish. So I went to MPIX which I've seen mentioned here a number of times. I had a chat session and wanted to find out about their finish. This is what they said, '...we have the standard semi gloss that would have a sheen but it is not glossy, or we have a deep matte giclee that would have no sheen at all..."

In your opinion, will MPIX's standard finish (semi gloss) be what my neighbor wants?

As an aside, the one photo of the whole family (of course that one) I screwed up and didn't leave enough space on the sides for an 8x10 that they want, but I can do an 8x12.
