Thanks to everyone for your advice.

Sharpshooter: When I talk to the seller, I will ask to see the receipt where he bought it, so he can prove how long he has had it.

I have not made up my mind on what I will do, but I am seriously backing up and rethinking this one.

I am also looking at the Canon T5i or the Nikon D5300. I might even look at a used Canon7D.

Mark: I printed out a camera timeline for Canon and Nikon to help me to keep track of the different cameras. I noticed that the 300D came out back in 2003. Talk about sitting on the shelf for a while (lol). I will look at the Keh website.

If you click on the link in my original post, you will be able to see a photo of the camera. I wish the seller would have posted a better picture of the camera. The grip area looks very well used.

Swamp Gator: Thanks for the links. This camera would be a cheap stepping stone (and used as a learning tool) to find out if I want to really get into this. The updated and higher end camera will probably be next year.

I am looking at this camera because of the price. Right now I can not afford anything else.

traveler90712: I will be taking some pictures with the camera before I but it. Could I buy a bigger card for it?

Thanks for letting me know. I had plan on taking some photos with the camera before I bought it to make sure it works.

Thanks for all of your replies. I talked to the guy over the phone. He said that he bought it brand new about 3 years ago. He said that everything works on the camera.

I had not thought about maybe needing new batteries or a replacement data card.

This would only be a starting point to see if I want to take the plunge into this. I would use this camera to get used to taking photo and learning. Then next year, with my income tax return, I was planning on upgrading to a newer or brand new higher end camera like the T5i or the D5300.

I was on my way to church Sunday evening and saw the clouds being backlit by the sun. I don't ever recall seeing them outlined in white like this. I only had my Samsung Galaxy Note2 cell phone with me. I just had to pull over and take these pictures. These were loaded from my camera straight to my computer. There have not been touched at all (don't know how anyway). Hope they are good enough for you to enjoy.

I need some help everyone. I am a novice to taking photo and have a very limited basic knowledge on cameras. I have a RCA 1.5mp digital point and shoot camera that was purchased back around December 2000 from Radio Shack. I am still using it and not having any problems with it. It does eat batteries very quickly, so I only use where I can plug it in to a power source.

2 weeks ago a friend of mine got married and let me use his Nikon to take photo of his small wedding. I took about 65 pictures and I have finally decided to go ahead and but a "real" camera. I have kind of narrowed the choice down.

I am NOT looking to start the Canon / Nikon war up again. I am looking at the Canon T5i or the Nikon D5300. I do not know if I will be taking much video at all.

I am willing to look at used also. I have been looking on Craig's list for Baton Rouge and New Orleans. I am thinking maybe buy an older camera in good shape and learn to use it before buying a newer camera.

I found an older Canon for $75 dollars. Here is a link to the ad.

I just registered. I have been reading here for about a week. I have very limited knowledge about photography. I am looking forward to learning a lot more that I know.

I am 52 years old and have been a widower since October 2007.
