You got it. History is history--don’t deny it.

You are right that one should not deny history. However, I don't think that anyone here wants to deny history. It is only that many of us do not want to celebrate those events in our history and draw the line at commemorating those events. I am sure you would not accept putting up statues of lynchers in our public squares; lynching too is part of our history. Study that history in the history books, and leave it there.

A fine poem that goes well with a fine picture. Congratulations to both of you.

I could make a very long list of illegal, unethical, and immoral activities of doctors and the medical profession.
Not all, but enough.
Sorry my friend, medicine is a business, no different than any other, like car salesmen, lawyers, and even priests. Everyone is subject to the human condition and temptations and human frailties.
So in the context of Corvid-19, while there are probably many doing good, I am just as certain of the opposite, for wh**ever the reason, pressure, politics, ideology or profit.
And I, for one, am not willing to sacrifice freedom for so called safety.
I could make a very long list of illegal, unethica... (show quote)

I respect your right, but I would urge you to recall the saying that, "your right ends where my nose begins." The story is that a man in London was walking along the street swinging his rolled up umbrella like a walking stick. He almost struck another pedestrian, who told him to stop swinging his umbrella. The first man said, "this is a free country. I have the right to swing my umbrella." The other replied, "yes, but your right ends where my nose begins."
You may have the right to endanger yourself and ignore what you refer to as "so-called safety." You do not have the right to potentially get infected and (even unwittingly) t***sfer that infection to others. In fact, I am certain that you have no wish at all to endanger anyone else, so I would urge you to please take measures to protect yourself.
No doubt there are bad doctors, greedy doctors, incompetent doctors, or wh**ever. But there are also good doctors, unselfish doctors, very competent doctors, and the overwhelming advice is that you should take measures to protect yourself. Please take care, if not for your own sake, then at least for the sake of others. Stay well.

William Shakespeare's father was a glover. He had to soak the leather in urine in order to soften it to make gloves.

Outstanding set! Thank you very much for sharing. It also reminds us that these structures will be there long after all of us have gone.

Always the optimist! You actually think it's going to get better!

Quite right. My Cambridge tutor used to say, "things will get worse before they get much worse." Then he would add that he was an optimist.

A terrific picture. Leave it as it is. The overcast sky and the snow all around adds to the gloom of being "abandoned." Congratulations.

Are you sure that the original email was in fact from Netflix? The fact that it says that you had requested a change when you had not, makes me suspicious.

There are quite a few reliable camera shops: Adorama, B and H, Cameta, and Roberts come immediately to mind, as does KEH for used equipment. This has been pointed out ad nauseum on this site. Stick to these, and you cannot go wrong.

I have lived in Egypt for five years, and visit it regularly, most recently last year. I have always found it perfectly safe and the people extremely friendly. Of course, there are some areas that one should avoid, just as there are in Washington DC or New York or London or Paris or wherever. However, the tourist sites are not in these areas. Your tour company or your hotel will be able to guide you. Take the normal care about drinking only bottled water and not eating vegetables unless they have been thoroughly washed. Incorporate a Nile cruise if possible. 98 percent of Egypt's population lives on four percent of the land area, i.e., along the banks of the Nile. You can sit on the deck of your boat, enjoying your drink or your snack, and watch real-life Egypt as your boat glides along. Take plenty of pictures!
