Looking to buy either Nikon FE or FE2 Black Body to add to my vintage film collection.
Looking for body that is Mint or near with no dings, brassi g, etc. In other wotds a camera that has been babied thru it's working life. Should be in good working order including funtional meter. Let me know what you have.

I was recently in the Midwest’s most famous camera shop, Central Camera on Wabash St. In Chicago’s Loop and saw several examples of both cameras you have mentioned for sale at very reasonable prices. Having owned both of those wonderful cameras (before my eyes started to fail me), I think they were some of the best working cameras ever made. If you don’t live near Chicago, or are unable to visit there, I’m certain that they will allow you to purchase the item you desire from them online or over the phone.

I retired from being a Journeyman Wireman in 2011. As a member of the IBEW, I always took pride in my work, and if I ever saw any of the examples you posted here, the first thing I would have done was to tear everything down and start over. I do not have any photos of the work I did, because the owners of the projects would not allow us to bring cameras on the job, and I retired before smartphones became ubiquitous.

I agree with your post and am familiar with Lucas electrics. My father bought an Austin America from his friend who was a BMC dealer in Peoria, IL. After six months things started going wrong, and it wouldn’t start during the winter if it was not housed in a heated garage overnight. We finally traded it for a Renault after a year and a half.

In 1986 while employed by Mitsubishi Motors, I bought my first new Nikon (a FG-20) at a camera store in Nagoya. When I enquired about a USA warranty for my camera, the salesperson handed me a brochure, written in English, that directed me to an office in a building that was next door to the hotel I was living at. The office was Nikon’s headquarters for that area of Japan.

When I walked in the door, the young man behind the counter (who spoke perfect English) immediately understood why I was there, took all of the Japanese language literature from me and disappeared into the back of the office.

He returned a short time later with an English language manual and USA warranty documents with my camera’s serial number on them. He thanked me for purchasing their product and assured me there was no charge for this service.

I can only assume that Nikon still offers something similar to this today.

I don’t know about the batteries for an F2, but the N8008 I inherited from my father uses AA penlight batteries and it still works perfectly.

I actually like both of those images. Those types of images are favorites of mine, and I have an extensive collection of them in both digital and film formats. Keep up the good work.

Thank you Timmers. Although I have not had the opportunity to work with Liz Ashley, I have had the pleasure of working with another Texas Lady, Keira Grant. I hope to work with Charlie Kristine again later this year, but I am in the hospital now and have some serious health issues to deal with first.

Very nice series. I liked every one of your images but I preferred the simplicity of the poses in the last five.

Thank you for your interest. I used a Nikkor AF 23-70 f 2.8 lens on my D610, most of the time at f8 to f10.

Superb work, but they may need some white balance correction. All look too yellow on my monitor...but it may be my monitor.

It may be your monitor because I was shooting full manual. I was using three AC strokes and my white balance was set to Flash an it was morning and there were no incandescent or fluorescent lights on in the room. They all looked good on my monitor, but I did warm them up in Lightroom so her skin wouldn’t look so pale.

Rather than talk about the lens you are considering, I have included a sample of what the original version can produce. This was taken three years ago when Tamron allowed me to borrow it as a part of a promotional program with a local camera shop. As to your question about using it on your D810, this was taken whole connected to my D610, handheld, at a distance of approximately twenty yards. I have rented the Nikkor lens you mentioned, and it is far too heavy to take handheld shots with unless you have much more upper body muscular development than I do.

Me either (I’m retired also) - my old code book is falling apart, so had to get it off the web.

Cheers

Nice to hear from a brother, I’m IBEW Local 34.

Article 300.5 of the NEC specifying burial depth for underground wiring in conduit:

Thank you TriX for sharing Article 300.5 of the NEC. Since I retired in 2011 I have not bothered to get a new version of the code book.

I'm going the have to run about 80' of wire underground - 3-wire 240 volt. If I use RMC, I can bury it just 6" deep. Apparently, I would have to thread the end of the pipe when I cut it. I'm not equipped for that. What's an alternative, or is threading it easy? This is very rocky country, and digging just 6" deep will be a challenge, so I don't want to use PVC and have to dig deeper.

As a retired IBEW Union member and Journeyman wireman, the current NEC code requires that all underground wiring above 120VAC be buried at least 18” below grade. As you stated your soil is rocky, I would recommend digging the trench a bit deeper and putting sand both under and over the cable so that the outer jacket will not be damaged by the rocks. Please take my advice, I did this sh*t for over 40 years.
