That's was very informative. Canon finally gave me that info after a few back and forth notes. Since you are well versed on this I have another question to clear up, if you don't mind. If you recommend using AI servo with BBF - when taking say landscape shots and you just press the BBF button and release it, is the focus locked. Or do you need to keep your finger on the button if your picture is stationary?

Thanks for the info. I have the same two canon lenses as you, but when I used AI servo I did not get the green light. I do get it with one shot focus. Is it possible that I have to program something different for the AI servo method?

I have read many posts about BBF and so I decided to give it a try. I have a Canon 70D. When I use the BBF in one shot focus mode the green confirmation light comes on when it achieves focus. If I use AI Servo (which many articles say is best with the BBF) the light does not come on. I wrote Canon customer service and they told me that the light should come on in AI servo as well. Did I do something wrong with my setup? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Looking for more reach for birding and wildlife shots. I have canon 70D and canon 300mm f4L. I realize that the teleconverters loose some light and image quality I just wonder if the difference in image quality is worth about $700 difference. The canon 2x extenders are about $429 and the big zooms like Tamron and Sigma's 150-600 are about $1100. Will there be much difference in quality with my 300mm lens and 2x converter and one of the aforementioned zooms.

I was hesitant to pull the trigger on the grey market camera. So when the price was recently reduced 15% I bought it from Amazon. I did purchase a couple of lenses from keh and Olympus used dept. That's for all the advice.

I usually buy from Adorama, B and h and Amazon, but I am in the market for a Oly em-1. I saw it on a web-site Pixelhub store on Amazon for about $400 less than normal. I realize that this will not come with a US warranty. The site says they offer a 1 year warranty. Is the risk/reward for saving this much money worth it on a new camera from a supposedly reputable site ( their reviews seem pretty good) What do you guys think? I am a little nervous buying this, but I have read a lot of people do get these international models. Thanks in advance for your advice.

I am getting a oly em-1 for travel purposes mainly. I take a lot of landscape and wildlife photos and buildings. I want to get two lens for traveling. My choices are narrowed down to 12mm f2, 12-40 f2.8 pro and 40-150mm f4-5.6. I never had a fast prime like the 12mm which is also very small and light, but I think the 12-40 probably will cover more situations (even though it is much bigger and heavier for travel. Any help from Olympus users will be appreciated.

I am looking for a mirrorless travel camera and have narrowed my search to the older Olympus m1 and the soon to be released m5ii. Just curious to any hogs out there that have had the M1 and have read previews of the newer m5ii as to which one I should go with. Obviously the newer model has some tech updates and is a little smaller. Even though I tend to like a larger camera that fits my hands better. Any suggestions? I have a canon 70d with multiple lenses, just looking for a smaller kit that is mirrorless and still takes great photos.

I am just starting to use the BBF method of focusing on my Canon 70D. I've watched several videos on the how, but I have a question for Canon users of my model. When using the AF on button to focus - when you achieve focus will the green light go on and beep as well, like the shutter button focus does? Are there any down sides to using this method of focusing? Thanks in advance.

I would like to get more reach out of my lens and I was thinking of getting a TC. My current setup is;
Canon 70D, canon 300mm f4 is usm and I already have a Kenko 1.4 DGX Pro. I have been looking at he Canon 2x iii tc. My question is with my lens and camera will I be able to autofocus or would I be forced to manually focus. Then would this be a problem for wild life shots that need a quick focus. I've read that the image quality will be good but is the autofocus potential problem a deal breaker. Any professional help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the detail analysis. Just to be sure; With my 70D - will the 300 f4 autofocus with an extender?
Will the 100-400 autofocus with a tc?
will the 400 prime autofocus?
