I used my Nikon 200-500 for the Blues in Pensacola Beach, set to manual and got some great shots.

I got my DF simply because it looked so good and it has since become my go-to camera. Got my 810 because I was intrigued with the ability of the 800 but I held out. Glad I did. Got my D500 because I figured at my age the D5 would not get the workout it deserved and it fits fine in my menagerie. Use the DF more than any with the D500 second and the 810 only when I am really feeling creative with something the others won't do.

I, too, have a lifelong commitment to Nikon. I have many expensive cameras and even more invested in lenses. I used to go to Pensacola to the Blue Angels show and was outgunned by a Canon with a giant white lens, but everyone thought my pictures were better than his. Still, if he had known what he was doing, he would have had the better shots. Keep the Canon , upgrade if you want but don't switch to a whole other system.

I had the same problem with my old D90. I reinserted the battery and the SD card, turned it back on and all was well.

The pre check and other pre screening methods can save a lot of hassle. But some airports are just worse than others. I fly out of Atlanta and they are great. Miami can be a mess, Syracuse is a nightmare, Memphis targeted my wife twice and she looks like anything but a terrorist. Boston has been consistently bad in over checking.

So many places to eat. Try Pepy's, it is one of the oldest. B & B's across the street has great fried lunches. Many great seafood restaurants off the main drags. Check out the butterfly house. Mallory at sunset gives great shots of the sunset and boats.

The DF is a wonderful camera. I always use the viewfinder also and see no problem.

The best thing in the movie was the Leica she was shooting with. Beautiful piece of work.

You might have noticed in the picture that quite often she was taking pictures in low light. Most color films were 25 or 64 ASA. Tri X was 400 and could be pushed higher if needed.

I have an 810 which is great for landscapes, pictures of my grand kids, a DF which I love and take on vacations as my only camera and a D4s that I use for sports and wildlife. I get constant compliments for my pictures, people telling me they have never seen such clarity and sharpness. Go, go somewhere else Canon people.

OK, I admit that I am old. I first used a brownie, got my father's 1930's era Argus 35mm. Had to get a light meter to set that camera. Got a Minolta rangefinder and loved it. Finally, when I went to Nam, got my first Nikon, an F. Still have it. Been Nikon ever since. Used a shit load of film cameras, the FM, the 6000, I forget all of them. Guy saw all my gear and asked why I didn't use digital in about 2003, and I had to admit I was a crazy old film nut, but shortly got a D60, followed by a D200, a D4 into a DF, An 810, and now a D500 which I love.

I go to an old farts school and one of our classes was on photography as art. It can take many forms. Go to an old cemetery, look into the older parts of a city, look for different angles of the same old things. I like to play with black and white as it gives a different look to the subject.

Whatever, in Atlanta this week we set two records, yesterday was 78F, today it is only 67. But it looks like mid April with all the trees blooming and the leaves coming out. I am even seeing buds on some of my roses.

Atlanta has the dogwoods blooming and the dogwood festival is in April and usually they worry they won't bloom.
