This story will go on forever. I have only owned Canon and presently have a Canon T3i with 4 different lens. I think I want to upgrade but the stories say go with a Nikon. I feel like I have all these lens that would fit a Canon 77 or comp. Why then should I switch to Nikon where I would need to purchase a kit with lens? I see the Nikon 3300 or 3400 has pretty nice features, but is it any better then my T3i? Please give me some input, I want to stay under $1000 if buying with lens.

Please, don't get us started. Oh, well, too late. I say decide what you want to shoot and study what best suits your needs. I shoot Nikon. You might want to stay with Canon, afterall you do have those four lenses.

Stories? What stories? Who told these stories? Kind of vague isn't?

Why change? Canon is fine. If you think of changing, why not make the jump to MILC: Fuji, Sony. Sony has the fastest autofocus on the market. Depends what you shoot. I love Nikon. Shot mostly Nikon for 40 years, but there's not much point in jumping to a D3400. That's the excellent, but low end; just one step above P&S.

Nothing wrong with Canon. At the margins, Nikons are better for some things and Canons for others. But most of us do not shoot "at the margins." Most of us are not nearly as good as our cameras, whether Canon, Nikon, Pentax. If you have a specific reason you are disatisfied, sure, but otherwise. . .

You already have 4 Canon lenses and should be familiar with the Canon menu system- stay with Canon!
Might want to get a newer Canon body but absolutely no need to switch to Nikon.
( I'm a Nikon/Fuji shooter myself)

It depends on you want to use. I personally use Nikon. I started using Nikon in 1969. I own some very expensive NIKKOR lenses. At this point for me to change from Nikon to Cannon would cost about $20,000 to replace my Nikon lenses with Cannon lenses. Do you feel you have spent a lot of money in lenses? Is it worth for you start over with a new camera system? If you have less than $1500-$2000 and you feel you can afford to switch than go ahead, you can always sell your used equipment and put that money towards a new camera system. If you feel you cannot afford to start over than start looking at Cannon, maybe you want to go to a full frame? I do not know much about Cannon, I have friends who use them, and they seem to like them, I have other friends who use Nikon, and they seem satisfied. Both companies make great cameras and lenses. I am not trying to sway you toward one or the other, but maybe looking at you pocketbook may help you make make a decision. Good luck, you can't go wrong with either one.

Stay with Canon. Canon and Nikon both make very good cameras. I have owned Nikon cameras since I bought my first SLR, A Nikkorex F, in 1962. Since you already have four lenses for for your Canon it just wouldn't make much sense to change to Nikon.

Do whatever you want, it's your money. But since you have already invested in Canon lenses, it doesn't make much sense to switch brands. Nikon brand is a fine brand. So is Canon. Also, since you have already learned about your T3i menus system, I can tell you through experience, that Nikon will be totally different than Canon. The controls, buttons, software, menus, even installing a lens on a Nikon is reverse of Canons. You will have a steep learning curve if you switch.

I have used both. I currently shoot with Nikon. But If it were me thinking of changing, And I was happy with Cannon, and I had all those lenses, I'd stay with Cannon.

Although I may raise some hackles, I think I can say, with confidence, that there are no bad cameras on the market, and if you are thinking of switching from Canon you have a lot of choices. The old, very old, Canon-Nikon debate is mostly a lot of heat with very little illumination. With that being said, if you have four good Canon lenses and want to minimize your cash outlay it would seem that staying with Canon would be your best choice.

As a Canon user, I've always shot with Canon, I've shot great photos with my $99 P&S up to my 5D mk3, in my experience it has alot to do with the person behind the camera and the post processing software. IMHO, get into Photoshop or lightroom, or Nik is free now, but pretty limited, you can't crop in Nik but you can in Picasa.

Admission: I have Canon, and am very happy with it.
If you have Canon equipment, it does make sense to seriously consider staying with that brand. I used to be a Pentax user but after much research, swapped my Pentax gear (and Bronica medium format equipment) for Canon. I'd been very happy with the previous stuff, but have been very pleased with Canon.

That said, asking this question is like saying Ford or GM, Mercedes or BMW, iOS or Android, PC or Mac. You will never get totally objective views except when commentators say they won't comment!

The decision has to be yours based on hands on research and what YOU want/need/like.

I really wish the moderators would state that that there will be no Nikon/Canon threads, or that all created will be placed in a 'bin' pinned to an obscure region of the forum!

You keep asking the SAME question - 4/4, 5/22 and 6/30. You've received a number of valid suggestions each time, tho you may not have been given the response you were pre-disposed to like. Only you can decide which camera you truly want. Once you do, buy it and stop all the hand wringing. /Ralph

Stick with Canon. All that has been said expressed all the reasons you should stick with Canon (unless you have money to throw around).
Besides if you switched to Nikon you would be one less person we would get to argue with about which is better.
