Personal, nonscientific, loooong term observation is that lithium cells never leak. Curious if others will concur.
I've used Energizer Ultimate Lithium for years. Never a problem. Never leak, last forever, and have a shelf life of 15 yrs, last time I checked. Throw a pack in my gear bag and forget about them. I stopped using Duracel because if left in a device they seem to always leak eventually. I've tried rechargables but, to me, they are just a nuisance.

I would stick with the 85, but have ready the 50 for under the basket shots.
This most recent game I used the 85 for the first half and the 50 for the second half. Both crop well with the R5's 45mp but overall I like the 85 better.

That link takes me to this page, where FW v 1.6.0 dtd 7/22/22 is the first available. 1.7.0 is not listed.
I was able to find it on the Australian Canon site but not the US site.
Don't know what to tell you. When I click on it, which I just did three times, it always takes me to the correct page.

Has 1.7.0 for the R5 been released? I just went to the Canon Support page for the R5 and 1.6.0 of July 22 is listed as the latest version. Ditto for R6
There are new updates for DPP and others. No 1.7.0 for R5 & 6.
Don't know what website you went to but try this Canon site:

Thanks. I've never done it . Easy to do?
Quite easy. Takes about 5 minutes. The update comes in a zipped file. Locate your camera at the CanonUSA website and find the support page. After you unzip the downloaded file you will see 2 files. One will be the update and the other will be a folder with instructions in a variety of languages.
Basically, what you do is:
Have a well charged battery.
Transfer the update file to your memory card. Do not put it in a folder, just dump it onto the card.
In your camera's menu go to the section designated by the wrench head icon.
At the bottom of page 6 under that icon you will see "Firmware".
Click on that. It will show the firmware currently in your camera, and probably your lens also.
Select the camera and do the update.
Format your card when done and you are good to go. You don't really need to format but why have that file taking up space on your card when you are done with it?
Canon just released, as of yesterday the 7th, new firmware updates for the R5 & R6. Both are Ver 1.7.0 and seem to address minor issues.
Just bought my wife a new printer to replace her ancient R300 Epson printer. The R300 uses six #48 cartridges. She had a complete new set that she bought as spares, plus some nearly new ones in the printer. Seems a shame to just chuck them. If anyone can use them, let me know. I'll UPS them to you. Just reimburse my shipping cost.

Yep. I did some photography for a school of nursing affiliated with a local hospital in Charlotte, back in 1979. They were concerned about patient's rights and experiences back then. I got model releases from every student, instructor, and patient I photographed for their catalog. It was the right thing to do, and now it's the law — Health Information Patient Privacy Act. Interestingly, no one we approached objected, and no one got paid for appearing.
That was before the existance of social media convinced 90% of the country that they are rock stars who should get paid for their images, experiences, opinions, etc.
Thanks Jimmy! Actually, if brought up to 100% I don't find any of the three totally satisfying. Having been away from the game for 2 seasons I am re-learning things. Plus, with my memory......
I photograph most of the home basketball games of the local community college. I donate all the photos to the Athletic Dept to do as they wish with, plus, I edit, crop, and print (usually 5x7) some of the prints to give to the players. After 2 seasons of no games due to Covid I am back at it, but now with a different camera. An R5 instead of an R. Been trying out different lenses because of the improved capabilities of the R5. Previously I used only my RF 85 f/1.2 L. This year I added my RF 50 f/1.2 L and my RF 24-105 f/4 L. Here are one shot from each. See what you think. All were shot at 1/500.
My opinion: I think I'll stick with the RF 85mm.

We occasionally post photos of employees on the company website. Is that okay without their expressed written consent?
1. You could take the chance that any one of the conflicting answers here on UHH is correct.
2. You could take the chance that if one of those employees leaves under bad terms that they won't think of sueing over photos they didn't give written consent for.
3. You could take the chance that consulting a local lawyer is your best choice.
I know which one I would choose. BTW, company policy means nothing. What the law states where you are means everything.

DON'T PRESS IT !!!
The whole universe could be just a simulation and crash if you press it.
I've seen that on a movie
Well, if you saw it in a movie it must be true and since we are reading this on the internet that just proves it! Now I know why, when I pushed mine, that everything around me flickered for just a moment and I got a quick glimpse of weird creatures sitting around. Reminded me of the bar on Tatooine. (Great place to visit, BTW. Put it on your bucket list.)
Once you push it you never go back! Bring extra underwear and socks!
