I was driving past a local cruise in, when I spotted this Chevy. It stood out and I returned to see if it was as pristine as it looked from the road. It was and more. Maybe the best 60 Chevy that I've seen in quite a few years. I was 20 years old when this appeared on the street, a close friend had one, 335 engine, 4 speed, the works. It brought back memories!! Please download.

I was only 1 year old! lol! but I love old cars. great shots!

Stunning images! Super that you could have a human as scale for us to wrap our heads around the size :)

Thanks Linda, trying show the scale of things in Alaska is always a challenge. I have seen thousands of amazing images of Alaska, none captured it like being there.

Very cool photos. Love the color in the ice. But I gotta ask: "Did he find his ring?" She must have been mightily upset with him to get him to fly out there and try to find a tiny ring in that huge landscape.

Erich, this is Marks job, it would be like us getting in the car and driving to the lake. He works for an air taxi service / flight seeing service.
He had a group to pick up at a remote lodge and the lake was kind of on the way, so we left early so we left early so we had about 3 hours to look around.
And no he didn't find the ring

Thanks for sharing them, some awesome shots to say the very least .

thanks Pete! it's still hard for me to imagine that much water flowing out in a few days and leaving the icebergs scattered like that.

yesterday I a friend asked me if I wanted to fly along with him to Strandline Lake to try to find his wedding ring he lost on a previous trip. its a glacier lake but the water has drained out. but when he was there last time the water was a couple hundred feet higher then it was yesterday not somewhere that is normally landed at.
with a metal detector and our cameras we fly out to find a needle in a haystack. we didn't find the ring, but had a great time climbing around and taking pictures.
the images dont capture the size of the ice chunks, some photos Mark is in to give some perspective for size.
you can search the web about the lake, its pretty cool

I was thinking the same thing. I shot a canon 7D and I bought a Canon sx50hs for my wife to see if it would work for vacations. its a great camera with a super zoom! but image quality is not equal to my 7D and focuses a lot faster.
I'll be packing my DSLR on my next vacation

Just got this one done to night. Saw it in a book and read about them. But it just looked like it could be in a piece of Teak wood I had. And sure enough, it was.:):) Now I only have 8 to finish.:)
