Thanks. To clarify, I don't want to delete RAW files and keep the JPG version. I want to delete RAW equivalents of JPGs that I already deleted and don't exist.

For several years, I have shot & stored both RAW & JPG in unique folders. I review the JPGs and delete some. I now want to free some hard drive space by auto deleting RAW files that don't have JPG associates.
I use Windows and haven't started using Lightroom yet, but plan to. I use several duplicate file finder programs like FolderMatch for general file management. Thanks!

I like Faststone Photo Resizer. Faststone.org
I usually import a folder, choose a new size (based on horiz dimension), append that size description to the original file name (original_filename-1280), choose a new destination folder, or just uncheck new folder and let it create in the same folder, then sort by size and move to a sub-folder.

Funny you mention that. Before uploading that shot, I tried to increase fill light with Picassa, but that simple approach began to also loose the color in the sunset. After watching a few minutes of landscape photography workshops last week on CreativeLive, I was convinced to order a graduated ND filter set. I received it yesterday and will be ready next time for similar backlit sunset shots where the horizon is fairly level.
I was so far away, no one in the wedding party knew I was around. At 24X my intention was to pull Catalina Island which is 30 miles away into view. I also "cheated" in that this is 3 bracketed exposures and processed as HDR. I just didn't spend any manual time tweaking the exposure.

On a functional note. Good shots could have been gleaned from a camera with lots of megapixels & cropping or a long zoom. With SuperZoom cameras (24X & 60X), I often enjoy shooting people being shot by professional photographers in public spaces.

It is likely that your hard drive is OK. The external enclosure may be the culprit (unless the drive is making a clanking racket). As a video editor, I have nearly 100 drives... mostly Seagate. The External 3 TB has been the most problematic for me. The USB 3.0 controller or the external interface are always failing and the drives can't be seen by Windows. The same is true of USB 2.0. What type of connector is used? If it is the flat Micro-B connector, it has two parts. The wider side is just the original USB 2.0 Micro-B, used by many Android cell phones. Use an earlier connector & cable to access just the USB 2.0 side and your files will appear. Be aware that hard drives exceeding 2 TB can use different partitioning & formatting, which also confuses some motherboards. Changing the temperature of the drive can also cause electronics to shrink & make a better connection, hence the good results of putting the drive in a refrig or freezer before hookup. Also power the drive before connecting the USB can help once the OS has loaded. Firewire and USB have always been finicky with connections. Lastly remove the drive from the enclosure and hook it directly to a SATA cable & power. Good luck.

You might miss the closeup of the Grizzly,...

True... and in that case I would prefer the closeup be taken with the SX50 at 1199mm. I've become a big fan of the superzoom bridge cameras, and thinking that if you're not shooting with the quality of a full frame or 4K for video, then enjoy the convenience of the better SuperZooms... and take another vacation with the money you saved on lenses.

As my first DSLR, I've used the 60D for 2 years and agree with others that short YouTube videos work best for me. This week I ordered a DVD from Rakuten by Blue Crane for the T3i since it is so similar. It's under $8 today. "Blue Crane Basic Controls Instructional DVD for Canon Rebel T3i/600D". Blue Crane has a few sample clips on YouTube to get an idea of the production value and pace of instruction. I also installed Magic Lantern software to get features available on the more expensive bodies.

Yes, I see now that you are using the composite video AV port. My earlier research was on the HDMI port for use as a source in switching with a TriCaster or recording a less compressed signal.

That is a common request for multi-camera shoots. I have made purchases based on that feature alone in some Canon & Panasonic cameras. Below are notes from various forums...

There certainly are SLRs that can do this. The Canon 5D Mark III recently had a new firmware version release that allowed cinematographers to record a clean 1080p signal out of it's HDMI port: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/standard_display/EOS5DM3_firmware
In addition, Canon also added a clean HDMI out on their new Cine line meaning that the Canon 1DC also has a clean HDMI out: http://cinemaeos.usa.canon.com/products.php?type=Camera-1DC

As for Nikon, many of their DSLR's can put out a clean signal over HDMI. The Nikon D600: http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Nikon-Products/Product/Digital-SLR-Cameras/25..., D800: http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Nikon-Products/Product/Digital-SLR-Cameras/25..., D4: http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Nikon-Products/Product/Digital-SLR-Cameras/25..., D5200: http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/dslr/d5200/, and D7100: http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Nikon-Products/Product/Digital-SLR-Cameras/15... all able to output a clean signal over HDMI.
Lastly, the Panasonic GH2: http://panasonic.net/avc/lumix/systemcamera/gms/gh2/ and GH3: http://panasonic.net/avc/lumix/systemcamera/gms/gh3/ also have a clean HDMI out if you like those products better.
Hope that helps and good luck!

Great list, Dan. Here is another pretty good list from Atomos (manufacturers of the Ninja and Samurai external recorders):

A few cameras are missing (I noticed the Sony VG30 the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema, Cinema, and Production cameras - there may be others), but this is otherwise a very useful list of cameras with recordable HDMI and/or SDI output.
Cheers,

Also in canon you can use Magic Lantern in some models to have a cleaner HDMI Output
