Thanks. The tutorials indicate that there is a significant learning curve.

The learning curve for PS and even LR is steep. It suggests to me that any sophisticated software takes time to master, Affinity included. If you use MAC then it may be in your best interest to learn it since the software was developed with the MAC platform in mind. There is also a free trial which can be considered in your decision making process. Good luck and let us know what you decide works best for you. Since Affinity is new by comparison to PS many of us are curious about what others think.

Hello all,

I am currently considering another online backup service as my current online storage provider does not support RAW.

There are many to choose from and I have looked at the likes of Carbonite, Backblaze and IDrive to name a few... but what about Apple's iCloud drive? (Not to be confused with Apple's iCloud).

All my Apple devices support the newer iCloud Drive and it seems ideal as it does support RAW.
Once the image files are in the drive they can be viewed across all devices. It is SSL secure and at $9.99 per month for 1TB it looks like reasonable value too...

Has anyone tried it?

If so, is it right that by using the drive the contents uploaded are mirrored to your local HD as is the case with Apple's iCloud?
This is something I cant get a decent confirmation of from the internet.
If it is the case then it hardly acts as an online storage facility, more like just a sharing platform?
Hello all, br br I am currently considering anoth... (show quote)

I for one do NOT like it. First the price is out of line as pointed out already. The second thing is I tried the free trial and have decided against using it. Now I can't get rid of the constant nagging banners from Apple saying my storage is full and I need to upgrade. I've yet to find how I can delete the trial account. Your nickel but my suggestion is to run not walk.

Thank you. You re the first one to give a plausible response. Most of the others found a way to disparage my question, and betray their contempt for those whom they believe are not worthy to ask a question. Again thank you.

If you get an answer it will likely be a biased one (good or bad) by that person. I agree that either your wife or yourself should go use it and form your own opinions. Those are the only opinion's that really count. Reading reviews can give you some insight but there is nothing like finding out for yourself. Good Luck.

I know. But that still doesn't address the issue as to why Canon makes shutter count difficult to measure.

They simply do it to jerk the chain of people like you. Maybe send them an email and ask. Any answer here is speculative at best.

Yes. There were actually five that cleared the fence with ease. They didn't even need a running start. One of them was substantially bigger than this guy. I was fumbling with the camera so only got one of them.

For some reason this reminds me of refrigerator Perry of the Chicago bears many years ago. 300+ pounds of manhood that could stand flat footed and jump up on a kitchen height counter top. Not sure how many here remember him as it was a few years ago. I consider many animals as being superior atheletes compared to us humans. Elk certainly fall into that category.

Great catch. Did he clear without catching the wire?

I wasn't there but I am familiar with elk. The fence was really an easy task for the elk to hurdle. They can clear objects much higher than that with ease and if needed can go through a fence like that and not even know it was there. In the area we hunted elk last fall there was one area fenced off to keep the elk out. The fencing was at a minimum 10' high with barbed wire strands every few inched going up from bottom to the top. One serious fence.

For the OP. Great shot and thanks for sharing.

I need an external hard drive for my IMac computer to back up photos. I have heard that Western Digital is good. I need advice on what to buy. Which is reliable and long lasting?
How do I get just my photos to go to the backup drive and not all other info? Do I need more than one and what size?

Here is one review amongst many when I googled "top rated external hard drives".

You clearly missed this.

Please move along if you find it offensive and to suggest it better that a person be injured or worse is utterly STUPID. I'm sure you can find a discussion somewhere that is more pleasing.

The point you are making is one that proves you are an idiot. Are you unable to see that the subject is one you have no value in participating in?

What did the Buffalo ever do to you that you needed to kill it. Very sad that you seem to think killing animals serves a purpose. It to bad the buffalo didn't get you.

It is my understanding that the "law" in Africa is that the minimum caliber is 375. I'm sure there are nuances and exceptions, and each hunter will have an opinion depending on the game, but there it is.

When speaking with the various outfitters the one question I asked each was what is the minimum caliber. Once I said my preferred gun of choice was a 270 WSM for plains game they all said that was plenty of gun. There may be requirements for any of the big five but that was not what I was interested in. If going for any of the big five then the bigger the bore the better but that would be the first time I've heard there is a law regarding caliber. It boils down to common sense. I would not go elk hunting with a .22 but if after squirrels then a .22 is adequate.

I do hope your shooting is in private parks. If at all.

According to the outfitters we have spoken to it is only possible to hunt in Africa on private reserves or properties. Can I state that as 100% true, no, but that is what we we here told. Our research is still in it's infancy so as time goes by I will learn more and decide from that learning what is appropriate for my beliefs and what my bank account can absorb.

We've switched over from PC based computing to MacBook Pro (wife), and 27" IMac for me. On the old PC, I used Microsoft Digital Imaging Suite 10, and now want to find something comparable for a Mac based system. Hopefully I'll be able to move all my photos from the PC over to Mac without too much trouble. Any suggestions on good photo editing programs? I don't really need the whole photoshop programs, as the complexity of it would be wasted on me. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I'm unclear as to the camera you use but all of them come with software for imagine viewing and retouching. They are also compatible with either PC or MAC platforms. If you don't have the software you can download it from the manufacturers web site.
