Did a search and found most had found Affinity promising, but had not used it long enough to make a definitive judgement. So, the dust has settled--how does it rate?
Worth $50.00?

Beware the learning curve. I bought it but haven't used it yet because it doesn't have an intuitive approach to me although it appears to offer photoshop functions.

Thanks. The tutorials indicate that there is a significant learning curve.

The learning curve for PS and even LR is steep. It suggests to me that any sophisticated software takes time to master, Affinity included. If you use MAC then it may be in your best interest to learn it since the software was developed with the MAC platform in mind. There is also a free trial which can be considered in your decision making process. Good luck and let us know what you decide works best for you. Since Affinity is new by comparison to PS many of us are curious about what others think.

i just saw an ad for affinity and asked to start the trial program..i am traveling at the moment and havent actually downloaded it yet..it is only for 10 days ..anyone else try it yet and like it..i loved aperture and hate giving it up..so for 50 bucks i just may be inclined to go with affinity even if it is harder to learn..i don't want to RENT a program such as lightroom ..

Affinity is available as an app in the Apple App Store.
I was able to find a link to the Affinity Photo 10 day trial by googling Affinity . Com

No argument there if you can get past his corny sense of humor.

After using it for about 8 months I find it to do everything Elements 11 did and more. It does have a bit of a learning curve and I have not learned all of it yet.

This might help.

I have photo and designer i'm mostly using designer which is excellent. Both programs are under rapid development and if you do buy either be sure to checkin regularly with the affinity forums the beta releases come quite often with useful improvements and features. The next branch will be 1.5 which will have new features. Affinity Designer is very nice to use and in some ways better than Adobe illustrator. It can import Adobe illustrator files.
