Bill, that is totally intense. I can only imagine how bad you felt losing that 58mm. I would say leaving the motor strobe home would be a good idea. Most places you go to, do not allow any kind of flash. Just the 35 mm and the 300mm would be the best. Forget also the 2x extender.

Re: 58mm Noct; the only other lenses I have loved as much are the 15mm f/3.5 and 85mm f/1.4.

Re motor and strobe; agreed. :) They're excess baggage.

Re: 35mm f/1.4 and 300mm f/2.8; the 300 is a great lens. But I don't use it that much to want to carry it around. It's best used with a tripod.... :)

Thanks. My Google searching needs to be narrowed...

You are correct. Photography has a never-ending learning curve. If anyone ever thinks they know it all, they're misinformed. :)

The problem of course, is that while I assume that pixels are the equivalent of grain in film, I don't have a concept of how different sensors compare.

Spend some time with Google. :) It is your friend. When you have explored the basics, you may be able to pose a question that has a definitive answer.

That is a very informative chart. Should I assume that the, ah, densities are equal?

It merely shows the size relationships of different formats.

Density (I assume you mean number of pixels) would be specific to each manufacturers' sensor.

I want a digital successor to my Roliflex, but can't see where sensor sizes are given. "Full frame" is obviously greater then "point & shoot", but where could I determine the real value in the combination of megapixels and sensor size. I have had a Canon A630 for years now, and it is a terrific little p & s.

Why would anyone want to list all their gear except for showing that they have GREAT taste in FILM and real photography

Keep film alive

:) :) :)

Jeremy, the singular piece of "film-only" gear listed is an F3/T body.

Should you have an answer to the question, kindly post it. :)

Anyone on this forum have experience with the Kodak 14nx SLR Camera? I am interested in using my collection of Nikon MF lenses.

I am down to 30 rolls of Superia 1600, checked to buy more and was shocked to find out it was discontinued and now costs $16 a roll.

So, if you have used the Kodak 14nx, please let me know about your trials and tribulations. I would be most grateful.

Boy - some great lenses. Now I'm back to the flip-flop re which camera.
It's amazing, I buy cars and houses with less angst than what I put myself through for camera equipment.

LOL Don't sweat the small shit. Camera gear selection is much more difficult.

It requires decisions based upon YOUR anticipated USE of the gear and your creative capabilities, which are known ONLY by you. :)

I wonder why when I post images no one or only 1 or 2 people look and comment,Is that because of my name i am proud of where I am from or justbecause my name is not female name?
To whom may concern.

There are probably hundreds of OTHER folks who want feedback to THEIR posts. How many of those people complain, like you did above? :)

That may not be as effective as good answers to questions and/or good photos being posted. Those are the types of interactions which impress.

You might also consider creating subject titles that make folks WANT to read whatever you post. I see that others have pointed that out; I agree with them.

WOW....If i carried all that equipment i sure would want to cut down on the size and weight of my camera bag. Whew....thats enormous, what you put in your suitcase. LOL.
Rich

Rich, believe it or not, I have a rolling Pelican (1650) Case that holds a boatload of equipment. But, I've never actually used it to travel with. I bought it at B&H, when I lived in NY. Right now it's a pretty much a storage locker with wheels and a handle. :)

My current carry bag holds an FT3/T w/ MD-4 & MK1, 15mm f/3.5, 24mm f/2.0, 35mm f/1.4, 85mm f/1.4, SB-28 w/ AS-17, 16 AA cells and 2 rolls of Fujicolor Superia 1600 asa 36 exposure film and a small LED flashlight. The only thing I'd RATHER carry is a 58mm f/1.2 Noct, instead of the 35mm. I bought one in the 80's, new, for $1000. Unfortunately, it was stolen and I never replaced it. :( Today they just cost too damn much....

I'm considering leaving the motor, strobe and 24mm at home, if I can find a suitable belt pack to carry the two largest lenses and some film. The stripped-down body can hang around my neck with the 35mm attached.

I got through HS with a Yashica TLR and a Polaroid. I got through the USN with a Nikon FTn. Sometimes I think that too much equipment just gets in the way. I mean, how many times do you need a Perspective Control lens? Or a 300mm f/2.8 w/ a 2x extender? It may be nice to have, but you hardly EVER need a lot of the shit that gets collected over the years.....

It appears to look more like an obsession, than common sense, after a while. :)

I have to agree with you on that one Bill. When i leave the house to go somewhere, i put the camera bag in the trunk and its there if i choose to shoot. But i do take it with me regardless.

I'm looking to reduce the size and weight of any carry bag. That will be an adventure!
