You might want to look into the Professional Photographers of America and see if the cost/benefit of joining them might provide the protection in terms of liability and equipment insurance you're concerned with. www.ppa.com

Ron Galella passed on April 30th. Obituaries were released in the last few days.

He was despised by many, and loved by others.

Is that a way of saying, a subject need only be discussed once on UHH? Just supply a link to a prior conversation and be done with it.
I've been a UHH member for a few years now and I've seen this, once and done with, attitude fairly often. As if there is a core membership that decides what others may have conversations about. Hmmmm, interesting concept...

I can understand where one might think that, rmorrison. In this case, it was not my intention. Still, I get what you're saying. No harm, no foul. Pax vobiscum.

Amazon is hawking K&F Concepts filters. Anybody use these? Or have an opinion? One they advertise is a combo polarizer and ND and then they add the descriptor "no cross." A first in the industry? Or just something this old guy hasn't heard of.

Is this it?

https://www.amazon.com/Concept-Variable-ND2-ND32-Circular-Polarizing/dp/B07M8LTQ98/ref=sr_1_5?crid=2N47XPLAOTPG9&keywords=k%26f+polarizing+filter&qid=1648059236&s=electronics&sprefix=k%26f+polarizing+filter%2Celectronics%2C63&sr=1-5

I think the "No Cross" you mention is really the "No X Spot" the manufacturer refers to in the ad. Probably referring to the X pattern that commonly appears in images made with some of the very inexpensive circular polarizing filters on the market.

I'm not sure it's really "artistry", or more of an accidental result of playing in Topaz Studio.

I am rethinking taking my D850 and 3 lenses or the D500 and 18 to 300 to Croatia, Montenegro and Bosnia for a 4 week vacation. The weight and bringing attention to me due to the expensive cameras and the suggestion my wife made about traveling light is making think about getting a different camera.

Is there a camera with built in lens that you would recommend?
Thanks

Didn't you buy that D850 for the excellent IQ, and all its other great features?

Don't you want to capture the marvelous things you're going to see with the best camera and lens combo you own?

Pair your best zoom and fastest prime with the D850 and capture images that will, years later, take you right back to the places and people you experienced on this vacation.

My 2 cents...

"The paper won six Pulitzer Prizes for photography during her tenure as its director of photography and a trailblazing member of the newsroom’s top management."

The story may be behind a paywall. In case it's not, here's a link.

OldSchool, you are in charge of your own "de-activation". UHH is the "Hotel California" of photo websites.

Wonder if these would be considered acceptable by air carriers for transporting spare batteries in carry-on baggage?
