Nice shot! Gorilla tripod? hmm..gonna check that ou!

That's the short tripod that has pliable legs. You can bend the legs around things so it will hold on to just about anything. It's a great idea.

I see there have been a lot of comments and critiques. I hope I don't repeat anything. The setting is beautiful, love the black and white. I see what you mean that something seems off. The processing is good, and the heck with the rule of thirds on this (I always think of it as the suggestion of thirds anyway). I think its the angle of the house to camera....its a little flat. If you had the house on a bit of angle instead of straight that might do the trick. Guess you have to wait until next snow fall, which should be soon. Always love your work and we're really picking here, but I guess we have to pick to get better.

More in my series of the abandoned buildings. This was an old shower room.

Canon 7D; f/4.5; 1/200 sec.; ISO-640; Focal Length 22mm; Off camera Flash

The camera is set up in a window. I have the flash set up on a gorilla tripod attached to another window sash about 15 feet to the right of the camera. Love that gorilla tripod. It will attach and hold on to anything.

I dunno - nice photo, and restrained HDR, but it Still makes my eyes itch - must be the astigmatism . . .

I know what you mean about the itchy eyes. I always fight with the HDR's on that. It's a fine line between just enough and cartoonish.

Lots of room to do just about any kind of work in. I would hate to pay the heating bill though. Where about's is this, Upstate or on the Island? I lived in Smithtown for a year and a half back in the early 90's.

On Long Island. Not far from Smithtown.

Oh this is very very cool!!! Nice HDR too! I keep buying filters and now I am thinking I should just HDR! This is very nice!

Thanks. I tried it with a flash too, didn't look nearly as good. The filters are very good for the right scene. You're photos always look great - and really natural.

Wow thats a large building for doing Laundry. But way back then buildings were all large and they housed many things throughout the years. Thank you for the update on it.
:)

It's at an abandoned Psychiatric Hospital. It's on 800 acres and there were about 10,000 patients at one time. It's like a small city. There are still many buildings standing - it was built around 1890 and closed in 1995.

It looks nice.

Thanks colo43 :) I did a little more research on the building. It was originally a laundry building. However, later it was used for maintenance trades, such as woodwork, plumbing, and the locksmith.

This is an abandoned wood working shop. Took as an HDR. -1,0,+1. The windows in the roof provide a good light and really helped the HDR effect. Canon 7D.
