They are leaving now, Mike. There might be one or two still around here. The salmon are gone so the eagles will be gone.

I'm pretty fortunate that the eagles will be here for the rest of the winter. I spend a lot of time up at the river taking pictures of the eagles and never see any other serious photographers. I see lots of people who stop for a quick snapshot and then they're gone. They are amazing birds and I feel bad that most people will never get to watch them as they fish and listen to their calls.

How are the eagles in your area? Have they left yet?

My first suggestion would have been Squarespace, as it hits all of your requirements, but if that didn't work for you, you may want to explore SmugMug or if you want to really customize, a Wordpress.com hosted site or host Wordpress on your own (or hosted) server. You can pretty much do whatever you want with that, although it requires a lot more work.

You could always create a Facebook Page as well. http://www.facebook.com/business/overview

smugmug fits your bill exactly. Not saying it is the best but one I'm familiar with. It fits all your requirements.

30 in a 1 mile stretch, that is awesome. i never would've thought of nebraska being such a hot spot. our bald eagles are making a comeback. I've never seen 30 though. i was screaming when i saw 2 together. there is a reservoir about a half hour from my house that has a breeding pair. they have produced triplets 5 years in a row but they seem to like fresh water and I'm on the ocean. i would love to see their offspring head towards me! gary

Nebraska has lots of eagles year round but more during the winter. I go to Gavins Point Dam in Yankton, SD, an hour drive straight north of my home. The Dam is on the Missouri River and has open water year round. In the early winter the eagles will be found along the river and Lewis and Clark Lake above the dam but when the lake freezes over, they congregate along the river.

nice shots. i don't think the fish the juvie scooped up is going to hold off his appetite for too long! gary

I watch a lot of the eagles eat the fish in flight then go back for another. I counted 30 eagles in about a 1 mile stretch along the river one day last week. Lots of photo opportunities.

Your first shot is very good Mike.

I cropped the second photo so that you can see the water splash where the fish was grabbed. I thought it made for a little more dramatic photo since the eagle is going away from the camera.

Seems the subscription platform is the way of the future. I read that Microsoft is working on making Windows 10 a subscription OS. All these subscriptions will get pretty pricy. Subscription for the OS, Office, Adobe, Virus protection and on and on....and so it goes.

Microsoft is already using subscriptions. I just bought several windows programs for my son to use in college and you are paying for a specified number of years and specified number of computers for download.

I think only Lightroom and Elements are available as a standalone...Photoshop is subscription based. CS6 was available...and you may be able to find a copy somewhere...but eventually abobe will stop supporting it.

I recently received an email saying that CS6 is going to subscription only. I don't know if that means that I have to start paying every month or just won't get any updates from this point forward.

I hope no one is getting tired of my eagle photos. I can spend all day sitting along the river and watching them. Gives me lots of practice with panning.

Eagles are wintering at Yankton, SD along the Missouri River. For anyone interested in Bald Eagles this is a great place to see them in action. They sit along the river below Gavins Point Dam and watch for fish, the photo possibilities are endless. Hope you enjoy the photos.

I'm not familiar with Canon but does it have 3D tracking? Also, Tamron says to leave the stabilization on while panning. I'm assuming that you are handholding and not using any support. I use Nikon and use AF-C, 51 points for BIF. Good luck.

I have to say that I like the photo as it is. I love the repetition in each architectural style and then you have this woman who absolutely doesn't fit and I think she adds life and scale to the surroundings. Without the woman, the photo becomes cold and lifeless.

It is also worthy to note that VR does take a short period of time to fully activate and if you take a shot before it is fully functional then you can get a blurry image.
Look through your viewfinder at a subject in nice light with VR turned on and hand held. Press your shutter button half-way and watch how long it takes before the subject stabilizes, you will clearly see the delay.

MT Shooter, what about when panning a moving subject. I've been photographing eagles inflight and lots of my photos are coming up soft. Is that because I have the VC on? I'm using the Tamron 150-600 lens on a Nikon D7100.
