Miles and miles of wire and many solenoids and switches went into the operation of that stow-away hardtop. From my memory it was fraught with problems for most of its life and had a nickname in my area as the "Flip-top Box."

I have a Pentax SF10 film camera with a Takumar-f 28-80 lens that I purchased new in 1988 if interested. When I decided to try Digital, I purchased a Pentax SF-10 and then a PENTAX Kx. The istDL has always been stored in an air-conditioned closet in my home. If interested, let me know if you have any questions and what you believe would be a fair price with or without the described lens.

56 Corvette story. In the early 60s a friend, Dave, built a T bucket hot rod. He found a 56 Corvette engine for it. Fast forward to around 20 years ago or so, Dave still has the T bucket, it still runs. Local Chevrolet dealer and Corvette collector has a 56 Corvette with no engine. He sees Dave's hot rod, checks the numbers and offers Dave a brand new Corvette for the hot rod, just to get the engine. Dave took him up on it.

Great story and outcome, Fred. I have a '56 Corvette story of my own with a different outcome. Around 1971, I spotted the rearend of a red early vette in the storage lot of a body shop. I stopped and walked over to view the 'Vette and the owner of the shop came out and asked if I was interested in buying it. We readily agreed on a price of $750! It had been stolen from his lot after a fresh red paint job had been applied and the thieves were later caught while spraying black primer over the front of the car and had blown up the non-stock 283 c.i. engine. I purchased a low mileage 350 HP, 350 c.i. engine out of a roll over '71 Corvette along with its 4spd tranny and installed them in my '56 Vette. With period "big 'n liitles" (tires) on the car, it went like "Hello" in a straight line, but never was a curve carver and was anything but comfortable to take much of a trip in!

Kim, that certainly is a beauty, far better looking than the one I purchased in 1971 for $750! That said, those early Vettes are beautiful to look at, but comfort and handling were not their strong points.

A different color scheme, but it works!

That is one classic Ferrari, Tom. The new models may be much better performers, But I much prefer the design and eye appeal of this car.

Beautiful P.U.! Studebaker always was at the leading edge of designers thanks to the talent of Raymond Loewe.

Nice shots, Kim! Not the most beautifully designed rear end treatment, but it was function over style that determined its aerodynamic design. From the looks of the sidepipes and tires it appears that it has had some run time, whether on the street or the track, who knows?

Thanks for your efforts, Tom, to ferrate out the additional info on this car.

Quite frankly, Tom I'm amazed that the powers-to-be at this show would allow such a Low Brow beast on the grounds! I guess the well-designed build of this radical rod won them over.

Tom, great photos as usual, but I can't say I've ever been enamored by those early "Bathtub" Porsches.

Looks like it was a good event. Love those "Batwing" air cleaners on '50s Cadillacs!
