I have a photo of a little girl and a puppy...it's really cute but it is a hunting family and we were taking pictures with a gun and such hunting supplies. Well, when I was taking the photo I didn't see it but now that it's on my computer, there is a shotgun in the background and it looks like it is pointed at her head. How do I get that out!!? (The gun was actually about 15 feet behind her and pointed at an angle and NOT loaded) I use Photoshop Elements 8. Thanks for any help you can give me! :)

I "operated" just a little on this adorable image. I always feel a bit presumptuous when I do this but it's fun for me and I hope helpful to you. I just got rid of some extraneous space and upped the colors a bit.

Oh you're fine...'operate' away! uploaded that right off my camera. Still haven't touched it other than messing with the Clone Tool. I just transferred them from my camera to my computer, looked through them quickly saw the gun barrel and said 'uh-oh'! haha

Second effort looks fantastic!...Now we can mention your picture. Nice shot of girl and pup. Owners will be very pleased with your efforts. First retouch looked like Elements, second could be Aperture! Who knows? You just get better with practice. But rule #1 is to try to take pics that don't need retouching (or cropping!)

I know...can't believe I didn't see that when I was taking the pictures!

Who but you would know it was a gun! Try just cropping! I don't use elements any more, but I would give the paint brush a try. NOTE: Make sure you make a copy to practice on! Not the original. Now I use Apple's Aperture, which has a brush tool that pretty much matches any background. (You can down load for a free trial, if you are on a Mac platform.)

Thank you! I'll try it out!

Would have to see the pic to really understand the situation. But you should be able to brush the gun out using a background matching tool in Elements.

Here it is! I think there are too many different colors right there to use the brush tool...

Thank you! I will most likely end up using the color one. My other photo in the auction is b&w so I don't want people to think that's all I do! :)

I'm not sure where it is going. It is going to be part of an auction for a local waterfowl hunters group. They are giving away the puppy that is in the photo. So hard to choose just one! I'm partial to either the color version or the sepia one. Thanks!

I like the colour version, but I can see why you turned it to b/w that shirt is very eye catching. It's a great image, but I think the b/w needs to have a contrast boost just to separate her from the horse. Everything else is wonderful.

I'm not a big fan of selective colouring, it's a personal thing, nothing to do with your editing or photography. The images themselves are great shots. I would love to see the one of her with her horse with a clean colour edit. I think it would really pop.

I'll have to search for that one. Prolly have it somewhere just not sure where. :)
