iMac has either a hybrid drive or an SSD. If you have only a conventional hard drive, it is probably Apple's stock 5400 RPM. A 7200 RPM drive is roughly a third faster, but that jump is insignificant, compared to SSD read/write speeds. A 1TB SSD and 32GB RAM are typical speed boosters.

I do have the 3TB hybrid drive.

Seems like there is also a new process version 4. My computer load time does not seem any faster; Late 2013 iMac 27", macOS High Sierra 10.13.13, 3.5 GHz I7 with 32 GB memory.

As to the Fuji grip vs the Meike grip, they look identical! So I wonder why $75 or so cheaper.

No, Cat, I just shoot family, vacations, and some that I like when I have a camera with me. The pana lx-3 has served that purpose for years. Example, after a day of wondering around Paris, the next time for the same area, I would take the small lx3 instead of the Pentax. Hands are old and I think I would like to go a lighter route for all shooting.

@catmarley and all. Thank you for a great discussion. I think I will get the x-e3 with the 18-55 and the optional grip that goes with it (although $$$) as my hands are not small and I think the grip would solve the size prob equated with the e3 as @kuzano has pointed out. An e-manual and other books on the e3 for my old iPad and I should be set! Except for the 14mm later on.

Thanks again for all the help.

Anybody have the 18-135 for a 'take only one lens' trip?

Thanks all or the advice. I also noticed that there is a better savings getting the 18-55 bundle and then getting the 23.

I am looking into getting the Fuji X-E3 bundle with either the 23mm f/2 or the 18-55mm f/2.8-4.
Looking over the past 10 years of photos, I have used the following: 50mm, 17mm, 43mm, 38mm, 33mm, 29mm, and 27mm. with the 17 & 50 the most. All are crop sizes, not 35mm equiv.

Any suggestions as to what I should get would be greatly appreciated.

I have always liked and used Fuji film in the ‘film ‘ days and this is why I would like to get the digital Fuji camera. The Xpro2 is a little on the expensive side and also, my Pentax K5-IIs is getting on the have side for my aging hands; even with my hand strap.

Thank you all in advance for any advice.

Richard

This is a great idea that my Mother, Mother-in-law, and Wife did and currently do. Then I scan them in with comments, keywords, etc. into SmugMug. It was pointed out before that my kids will always have my SmugMug account and Lightroom system to look at. No doubt they will 'cull' the photos to their taste. But, my Navy days, vacations, my Mothers vacations, and Grandmothers photos will survive a little just as I have preserved them for family history.

quote=DirtFarmer]As several people have noted, prints on paper have lasted since the 1800s. Also as noted, both paper prints and digital are easy to lose if there's no interest.

One way to keep some interest is to preserve the names of the people in the photo. I have a box of 1800s photos that someone wrote the names on the back. That increases the value of the photo to the family by at least a factor of 100. The box of photos without names on the back is useless. Digital photos are a bit trickier. Yes, you can put the names in the metadata, but few people know how to access the metadata. To be useful, the names have to be overlaid on the photo within the file. There are several ways to do this. Many programs will allow you to add text to a digital image. You have the choice of placing text on the individual people or adding white space to the bottom of the image file and placing the text there. For groups I occasionally convert the image to a line drawing (edge detection). I then erase the facial details and place a number there. I can then add a list of names associated with the numbers. This shows who is where in the group, but it is cumbersome and is located on a separate image file. You can of course combine the two files into one image and print the whole thing, then fold the print over so the outline and list are on the back. It's a fair amount of work, but so is finding out the names of the people in the group. I only do this for family groups that I believe will have some interest in the future.[/quote]
