some additional examples...
Even appearing creepy and crawly to many, I think the one aspect of these marvelous photos that transcends all else is the image of a mother and her babies. With the help of an entomologist friend of mine, and a little determination, I have come to develop a new respect for spiders.
Ennio has such diversity on his creative palette! Writing such a moving score for "The Mission", and then creating the haunting strains for "The Thing". That's covering the whole spectrum! He's one of my favorites!
Beautiful presentation! BTW, love your avatar, also. This is my humble contribution to the Valentine cause. This was captured at National ZOO last June, after much waiting...
Silly me! I believe my aperture of choice that evening was f11.
I was shooting through a lot of atmospheric "junk", I recall, and after numerous trial shots f11 seemed to give the best results. As it was almost 17 years ago, my memory is a little fuzzy!
As far as I can recollect, I took these wide open (f2.8, with an exposure time of ~ 30 sec. I used a Minolta Maxxum 3000 Pro, with a 70-210 mm tele. Shot these at 210 mm. I seem to recall that 30 sec. was the maximum time I could shoot without getting pronounced star trails. Now I can prepare for some digital trials!
Thanks for the heads-up! The last time I attempted comet shots was back in the days of roll film (remember that?). Here are two shots of my attempts at a capture. One is Comet Hayakutake in 1996, and the other is Hale-Bopp, taken in 1997.
I have a few more here...
My contributions. Hope you enjoy.
Three more for your consideration...
