Thank you FuzMuz, I don't know what the negative space means but I'll look it up. That thing was going faster than it seemed or something, but then I don't know anything about shooting anything moving either so prob just me and my lack of knowledge.
Thanks sinatraman, that was what I didn't like with the one I cropped, it took away some of the clouds and just didn't look the same.

Negetive space or sometimes referred to as open space is an open area in the photo that allows or gives room for your primary object to "move into"

The first photo is a good example of "Chaos in Nature". A state of utter confusion or disorder. Repeating shapes but not patterns; order without organization. Impression of infinity, allowing one to see through the leaves; giving the viewer the feeling that chaos continues beyond the frame of the photo. Vibrant color and textures are the strongest component of the photo. Nicely done.

The first photo using foreground framing is a good composition technique. Most post processing s/w has the ability to adjust shadow areas to lighten and bring out more detail. Try this and see if you like the results.

The last picture has good clarity. I would have zoomed back to show all of the flower cluster, just a mater of personal taste.

Candid portraits - catching people being people I find far more interesting than having them pose in the studio. I like your work keep taking those pictures.

Thom's books are better than the guide that comes with the camera. I purchased his books/CD for my D5000

The photo is very crisp with good DOP and Bokeh. Some folks might disagree wanting the background blurred. I like it the way you have presented. Nicely done

i just finished up pictures for a youth football organizations parents night. the posed pictures i took alot of them have sunspots that im not sure how to edit out?! and ideas. they didnt show up on my lcd so i never took notice. hope you guys have some creative solutions!

What editing software do you use?

The simplest way is to use the clone tool set to about 20 percent opacity. That should give you enough control to match the surrounding area.

Wind blown waves. These demonstrate when a fast shutter is better than the usual long exposure for moving water. Nicely done!!

I'm not sure how you come up with the "limited number of lenses" line. Sony alpha cameras accept any lens made for Minolta Maxxum. Also, Tamron and Sigma and various other aftermarket lens makers have a comprehensive list of lenses that worik with Sony. The Minolta and Sony lenses(particularly the G series) have excellent reputations for sharpness and build quality. Couple that with the fact that ANY lens you put on a Sony is image stabilized, and you have a system that takes a back seat to no one

I am a long time Minolta/Sony user. In May of this year, I upgraded from a100 to a55. The a55 is a stunning piece of hardware at an unbelieveably low price, considering its capabilities. Flashgordonbrown is correct, there is a wide variety of lenses available.

There are a lot of recommendations for a77 here. I know the a77 will be a great camera, but consider:

*a77 at $1,399 (back only) will be twice the price of the a55 at $699.

*Main difference is megapixels, 24.3 vs 16.2. Is 8 more MP really worth this price delta?

*If you can wait until a few months past the a77's market release, Sony MIGHT knock a hundred off the a55 price, since now it is the little brother of a77.

The main things that drew me to the a55:

-Better low light capability (ISO 12,800)
-Faster burst mode (10 fps, since you don't have the mirror flopping around in there)
-Higher res (16.2 MP)

I have been absolutely thrilled with the a55. It has reinvigorated my love for photography. Its capabilities continue to amaze me.

The price difference also buys a magnesium body over the a55 plastic. A77 controls are sealed dust & water resistent, A55 controls are not. The a77 has built in HDR and GPS, the a55 does not. The money difference buys a lot more than 8mps. As with most things the real difference is how deep are your pockets. For the price the a55 is a great camera.
