I also bought the Nikon D750 with 24-120 f4 package about a month ago. Have only used it twice so far at the Bronx Zoo. So far the indoor shots at the bird house look great. Also own the Tamron 70-200 f2.8vr side by side they be hard to tell apart. A little better bokah with the 70-200. Also own the Nikon D7100 and have used 24-120 f4 on it and it also improved my low light indoor shots. If you have not bought the package yet check out Greentoe where I bought mine. Saved a bit over everybody else full Nikon warranty.

I have a d810 and I think you are missing something. You need to set the autofocus mode to autofocus-C. That is continuous autofocus. That way if you keep your finger on the back-button the camera will continue to focus on the bird. You always keep the camera in this mode-even if not shooting birds, because for a regular shot, once you take your finger off the button, focus is locked.

You also should be in Ch or Cl mode to get multiple shots.

To set the camera to AF-C, hold the Autofocus button on the left side of the camera down and rotate the command dial. For an excellent description of how to do back button focus check out this videp from steve Perry.

Did you try to register it on the Nikon website? All my Nikon gear registered with no problem on there website and any time I needed them to do adjustments it was done. So I would try to register it on there site.

You need to upgrade to a newer version of Elements. Before you do go into help and updates just in case.

First go to Lightroom and open up help. In help there is updates try updating it. Your lightroom is 3 and lightroom
is up to 5 now. The Nikon D610 is to new a camera for Lightroom 3 you would have to update to 5 for the RAW files or use the Nikon NX2 to open the NEF RAW files. You can still use 3 on JPEG's.

I own the Nikon 18-300mm F3.5-5.6 and yes the lens is heavier then 18-200 but you will get use to it very quickly. As for the reach difference your going from equivalent 300mm with a DX to 450mm that is significant. There is also a newer version 18-300 that is lighter but you
loose 1 stop in light at 300mm to 6.5. I would rather have the older version.

Did not know that always used UPS when shipping because easy to track. US Postal Service tracking always found to be a problem. When ever I previously used UPS there charges were by destination not flat rate.

Now why in the world leave out Alaska and Hawaii Priority mail flat rate is the same whether sent 2 miles or to the far reaches of the US.and you insure it for not much have done this many times it is quick and painless do you know that fed ex and ups use the postal system to move their packages my wife dealt with them for years.

Could you tell me which model you got and if the head is removable? I'm looking at a Vanguard tripod also that I can use my existing pistol grip ball head with that will support my big Sig lens.

You might want to look at Vanguard Alta Pro 284 carbon fiber its load capacity is 18lbs and weighs just under 4lbs with out the head. I own it and it handles my Nikon D7000 with a Tamron 70-200 f2.8 with no problem. It should handle the Big Sig.

I also own the Lowepro Slingshot 202AW it will carry your camera with a 70-300mm on it. It will also carry 2 other lenses and flash in its main compartment. The lenses should be around the same size as 70-300 or smaller. It will Not carry a 70-200 f2.8 or larger lens. I had to upgrade to a Lowepro Slingshot 302AW when I got my 70-200 f2.8. When I don't need the 70-200 I use the 202AW. In the bag I have my
Nikon D7000 attached to the 18-300mm. In the compartments my
85mm macro and SB600. There is still room in the main compartment for an Expodisk and other filters. Still enough
room in the top area for extra batteries Giotto blower and more.

I use an expo disk and set my own white balance. I find it blows any of the pre sets away. It also looks better than AWB . Post production I have looked at Elements and Light room to use their AWB and after viewing have kept it as shot.

Just my 2 cents

Basil - the debate on protective filters will never end... If you're on the side of using them, you should consider whether your lenses will be used for film or only digital cameras. I've been recommending B+W XS-Pro Clear MRC-Nano for digital only use. Within the B+W brand, there are other options, but stick with their MRC Multi-Resistant Coating.

+1
Also the built and thread quality are excellent.

When your in NYC there are authorized repair sites. One of them is Phototech Camera Repair at 110 East 13th Street NYC
212-673-8400 they will clean your sensor, check your back focus issue and upgrade your firmware. There also is another one located across the street from B&H on 34th Street don't remember there name. Phototech I have used for a Fuji camera and they are very good. Customers who were coming in for a cleaning were told they could wait or come back later to pick up.

I have been using the Expodisk last couple of months. I shoot in RAW and use Lightroom 5. When looking at the development module I go threw the white balance setting and most of the time prefer as shot rather then camera settings or adobe settings.
