I remember the day well. As a young boy I returned from school and with my mother we listened to the news on the radio as we did each evening. There was only my mother and I as my father was serving in the RAF.
After hearing about the D-day landings my mother turned to me and said “This is a day you must never forget.” And I never have.
I graduated with a degree in Physics at a British University in the late 1950s. Many of the textbooks set for various courses were bu US authors, published by US publishers. They were without exception metric based.
However here in the UK we have a curious mis of Imperial and metrics measurements. For example I fill up at the pumps in litres but measure fuel use in miles per gallon. The weather forecast on TV gives wind speed in miles per hour but temperatures in degrees C with the conversion to degrees F for those who cannot, or will not adopt the metric mode. Milk and beer are drunk in pints but often sold by the litre. However construction, science and engineering are totally metric.
Here in the UK there is a nationwide sales tax of 20% on the majority of items. Food, books and a few other items are exempt. This payable on-line or in shops and stores.
My wife has a P1000 and she uses a strap from Peak Design. We have used PD for a number of years and are highly satisfied with their products.
From someone acrosss the Atlantic Ocean I found it a very moving presentation by first class singers and musicians. When I read of some of the things the US governed spends its money on, then this is worth every cent.
The original quotation was used by Ronald Regan in his eulogy following the Challenger disaster and was most approptiate. He certainly knew how to use and annunciate in a most moving way.

Dr Frankenstein was the person who created the monster, contrary to popular opinion.
Robert Frost, a great American poet.
I has now been re-released. I downloaded the original release without any problems, it’s a bit underwhelming.
So true, currently in Southern Italy and recovering from the hoard on Capri.
Earlir today my wife Chris (also a UHHer) had her new P1000 delivered, probably one of the first in the UK. She is currently exploring it and setting all those things that need setting prior to using it. However it is evening now so shel'll be up early tomorrow to start shooting. I'll get her to post some photos later
I had a similar, but different problem. After the update none of my scanners A3 and A4 (metric sizes) would work. Totally uninstalled the Epson V600 with Revo uninstalled then reinstalled using the Epson V600 CD. Then everything else worked.
