Again, for the folks in the U.K.: How are the ratchets that sockets attach to measured? In the U.S.A. we use 1/4", 3/8", 1/2" and larger for use with both Imperial and Metric sockets. If you ask a tool vendor for a 15mm socket, he'll ask, "1/4", 3/8", or 1/2"?"

That's why I have two sets of tools, one AF (Imp) and one metric. But what really gets me is when I'm trying to (un)tighten something and one set works for one bit and the other works for a different bit. What were they thinking?
Back to money. Apart from good old LSD (money) there was also a half penny (ha'pney) and a quarter penny (farthing), so back in school days it was great fun adding or subtracting £10 3s 6¾d from £3 17s 9¼d. Decimilisation came far too late to save us! (hope the fractions convert - first one is three quarters, second one is one quarter. Oh and the currency sign on my keyboard is a GB pound sign, not sure what a US keyboard will display).
So starting with a decimalised dollar meant you were ahead of us (for once). But our currency went a looooong way back.
