i would wrap cam, etc., in heavy weight alum foil... reflects heat... and include the lens right up to the uv or other protective filter.

btw... nothing wrong with a 300mm zoom lens and youre a long way from the launch... :)

How about using a Mars Bar wrapper? If I remember correctly they're more substantial than a Milky Way!
