"Post shooting distortion correction softens the image and crops the frame."

I get the Cropping part, but softening ?
I shoot in Raw and Lightroom/PS CC
When I use anything under 35mm, I check the auto correct in the Transform section.
Is there another section you are referring to ?
Perhaps at 73, I am not noticing the softening.

Thanks, I will get one of those if I buy the 200-500 !

I will post my Herron picture just as a Test, it was not planned at the time and it was taken with a 28mm, cropped a lot and transferred from iPhoto to Aperture to Lightroom, I may have left another transfer off, LOL
As a result it is about 750kb.

I am also extremely impressed with the fact that you did hand held.
I have been thinking of getting this lens the next time Nikon has a sale on it.
Not trying to be too nosy, may I ask how old you are, I am 73 and feel that the hand held may be too much of a burden.

BTW, I have a shot of a Heron with a rather large catfish in his mouth, I mention it because he should holding it horizontal to his beak for 15 minutes and finally flew off as I spooked him trying to get closer.
Not being the best wild life guy I make too much noise, LOL
I have never posted a picture on here and am not the best with the computer, I do not see an icon to attach a photo.

I know this may get me in trouble BUT I shoot in RAW and keep the WB a 5000k, this way I know the constant, I use Lightroom so it is an easy adjustment if necessary.
I must admit thou, very rarely do I make a change.
I use my flash for most indoor and outdoor "People" shots, other shots (sports & Landscaping) obviously it depends on the distance and speed.

I do believe that Temp can be a personal preference.

As an aside, 2 years ago, I thought I had a problem with the WB with the camera as everything had a yellow cast to it.
I then noticed that my older photos had a similar problem, then I thought it was the computer.
as fate would have it, 3 months later I when for my annual eye exam and I needed surgery, after that all the colors appeared naturally again.
The good news from this is that I convinced my wife I needed a new camera and got the D750. LOL

Ok!

It seems I had to transfer the folder to the SD card and then open the folder in the SD Card and the Zip appeared without the .cpgz, I kept that one and trashed the one with the extension .cpgz.

Hopefully I explained it enough and it can be useful for someone else.

Thanks of everyone's help.

The product description for the update does show macOS Sierra version 10.12.
So that is not the issue.
Yes, I did format the card in the D750.

Hopefully another member has some other thoughts,

I am having an issue, my D750 will not show the update, it just shows the "DONE"
I have done updates before.
I have a Mac, and what I see that may be different is that my version to load onto the formatted SD card has a .cpgz at the end, in other words it is listed as NKLD0215.BIN.cpgz
Does that change anything and is your download say the same version?

My (L) version in the camera is 2.009
I dragged the NKLD0215.BIN.cpgz as a separate item and not in the DCIM folder, I even tried removing the DCIM folder
I formatted the SD Card originally and even did it again a second time.
I inserted the SD Card in Slot #1

I always look to myself as the problem, so any help that you can provide is appreciated
Thanks,
Greg

"Lightroom advises to work thru the Develop module from top to bottom. Sharpen is above noise reduction. If we should always reduce noise befor sharpening does LR have it wrong?"

Well this is news, We can always learn something new.
Is there a Lightroom tutorial that addresses the work flow order for adjustments ?

I have to admit that I am lazy and have a standard preset that includes Noise and sharpening and auto Chromatic =on.
They are very minor adjustments as I always found myself making them.
I rarely shoot high ISO, my standard is 200 and max I go to is 800 with a D750.

In fact the General preset in Lightroom has a Sharping adjustment.

I have a 7 plus on order from a 6, should arrive around 11-15-16.
One of the reasons I upgraded was the RAW file ability.
I have Procam and really like it,
Currently I thought that Procam would only transfer to Photoshop not Lightroom.

Are you saying that the 7Plus and Procam combo can now go to LR ? and/or I mis-read and did not set up my Procam properly initially.
That will be great as I use LR 98% of the time and I found myself transferring the images via USB into the Computer LR.

Greg

How do you get it to play.
All I get is to buy it.

What are the definitions of the colors that are in the Lightroom Histogram triangles?

I have just got into working with the Lightroom Histogram.
I understand the basics and how to apply the adjustments to eliminate the white triangle and get it to gray when the triangle lights up.
I am noticing that the Triangle will at times light up different colors such as :
Yellow, white, red.

I read that it is the actual color, however if it lights up "Red" there may not be Reds that are even in the image.
Should I be adjusting the Red in the HSL?

Am I making the right adjustment to get to the gray color when a color lights up other then white?
In other words (example only) :
if I change the whites/highlights is that the correct change or should it be "exposure" based on a color other then white that shows in the triangle.
Or should the adjustment be in the HSL, the problem I see is that the "Reds" do not seem to be the issue, generally part of the image is either Over or under exposed.

I hope I explained my question properly, please ask any follow up questions if I failed to make the case for the question,
Thanks ,

Greg

I have a HP Printer/scanner and whenever there is a OS update or HP (Rarely) update I lose my scan ability and have to shut the printer off and restart when I want to do a scan and it is fine until the next update.
Not a problem now, but it was frustrating going thru the motions the first few times.
I have mine directly plugged into my modem.

Small problems in the real world for us old timers.
I remember getting the first Fax machines around 1982, it was the size of a desk and very expensive to send a fax during business hours.
Now it is a Photostat/printer/Scan/fax, all in one.

I read that the future generations may not need drivers licenses, Uber type driverless vehicles will pick you up at your door or apartment patio on the 10 floor and take you to work.
Of course that is assuming there will be a job to go to, LOL

The Present, according to reports:
Uber is just a software tool, they don't own any cars, and are now the biggest taxi company in the world.
Airbnb is now the biggest hotel company in the world, although they don't own any properties

Just another Manic Monday !!

How many photographers made duplicates of their negatives and slides? How many photographers kept their negatives and slides in a fireproof safe? {I actually did have some fireproof containers that I used for some of my slides.} Are our work that more valuable since we switched to digital??

I guess I am a dying breed (73 years old) I have had a Safety deposit box.
In the old days I did place the really, really good negatives and old ones of my ancestors that were taken.

Now I have a WD 4 TB B/U on my desk and have a 2TB portable that I keep in the Safety box and update monthly or when I remember, LLOL

I too do not trust the cloud, I think with all the hacking going on, to me how difficult would it be to destroy files in the cloud.
I consider the cloud the weakest link, even if a B/U HD stops working there is a good chance that the files can be recoverable.

Is it possible that you just have too many backup files? I go in every so often and delete the oldest ones--right now I have just 5 in the Backups folder.

I am fairly new to LR, where and what are "Backup Files ?
I thought that there are original and edited files.

Thanks,

Are you talking about the File>Open Recent choice? If so, and if you have already moved or deleted that image, it will remain in that list of recently worked on files until you eventually work on more images and they drop off the list.

Yes, I believe that is how it works, not having many PS images they 3 stayed on the "history" as an image until I decided to remove the "clear recent".
Now that I understand the process I will not react to the images being shown.

thanks,

Greg
