I live in the uk and would not vote to leave the EU I work at Honda our cars go mostly to EU countries If we came out of the Eu that would be the end of my job and many other ones like it.
But have to agree with everything else taking peoples savings is madness it undermines what little faith we had in the banking system. If I had any money I would not put it in a European bank. I bet a lot of money will leave now hope it takes a couple of banks down maybe the stupid politicians will see the damage they are doing.
Thank you for your reply I followed the links you gave. It seems quite complex, but within the text it says. quote
As two examples, the Canon EOS 20D begins to show diffraction at around f/11, whereas the Canon PowerShot G6 begins to show its effects at only about f/5.6. On the other hand, the Canon G6 does not require apertures as small as the 20D in order to achieve the same depth of field (due to its much smaller sensor size).
my understanding was a point and shoot had better dof than a dslr

If I have this wrong please put me right.
Small sensor cameras give better DOF, but suffer more diffraction than a large sensor camera at the same F stop.
large sensor cameras give less DOF at the same F stop but a higher F stop can be used before diffraction becomes an issue.
So for macro photography is there an ideal sensor size to maximize the DOF
thanks

Easy to think big when it is not your money, my 4 year old AMD crunches through 20 picture stacks in about 2 minutes. Modern processors will be far faster. A modest pc an I5 or AMD equivalent with a modest graphics card will suffice, 16 gig of ram 4 will suffice I think these guys are planning a mars mission, but a large hard drive 1TB is very useful, surprising how quickly they fill up If I was loaded I might invest in a RAID system to keep all my pictures safe. But much more cost efficient is a couple of back up drives.in 4 years time a pc of similar budget will be twice as powerfull,by again later Steve
good point maybe both need to join the 21st century
I have just taken a quick look at PTGUI it looks good do you know how much it costs after the trial,
Thank you Steve
Lots of suggestions there hope you find yourself a nice birthday present.
I find it very difficult to take indoor shots of my grandchildren there is not enough light and they move so fast and that perfect smile only lasts an instant. Having a lighting rig set up permanently would not work here, So maybe if I were looking for a birthday present to myself a fast auto focus fifty would be my choice good luck.

yeah horrible thing to do set fire to it now.

nice to see people using open source software.
I thought it was a snowdrop but snowdrops in England flower in very early spring, in cold weather in frost and snow.
living in the UK I had no idea the US was pushing ethanol,
I am surprised that it is a poor fuel. I thought that was what fuelled the drag cars.
I use 2 plastic resealable bags, with marker pen write live on one and dead on the other put charged batteries in the live bag. and put the dead bag with your camera gear.
It is sad for the whale, mankind may be guilty for creating all the noise pollution in the ocean, or it may have just been his time. Do not think of nature as all cosy and soft it is every bit as cruel as humans.
In the UK we still have a lot of small independent computer shops, my local shop diagnoses problems and fixes them quickly and so cheaply, If I have a problem I do not understand it makes no sense to do it myself is not worth the time wasted.
