I had upgraded from the D70 to the D7000 and am still learning to use it. I have been very happy with it and have no complaints. I can't afford to upgrade to every step up they make. The industry is changing so fast. My upgrade next time will be to a full frame Nikon. Just not yet.

I have had my 7000 for 2 years now. I LOVE this camera. There is a definate learning curve with it, so be patient. I had the advantage of having had another anion first, so that helped but it is a fantastic camera.

Except for a few obligations to a couple city's, all I am interested in is the countryside really. I want to soak up the true feeling of England and Scotland, and that does include some neighborhood pubs.

We have definate plans on the highlands. Thank you for the info on places to go there. We are doing Fort Williams so we can take the Harry Potter train. I know- very touristy, but something I just have to do to agrivate my grandkids a little.

Just do be like the tourist who asked the guide: "Why did they build the castle so close to the railroad tracks?" :)

What a terrific group!!! I ask for a few suggestion and get an entire encyclopedia of great ideas. We will be leaving London on June 17 after visiting friends who have kindly offered us a tour of the city. ( he just happens to be a photographer to) then we will be heading generally north to Edinburgh with a quick stop at Liverpool first. Should arrive in Edinburgh around the 25th. I would love to see Cornwall, and Wales before we head north, if we can do it. Our mode of transportation will be train, bus, and maybe car here and there.

Hi Linda,

Hope you have a great time when you visit here.

Glasgow riverside is lovely for sunset/sunrise images.
If you are heading north, Glenfinnan / Arisaig and just about anywhere on the west coast is good. Pittenweem & anstruther on the east coast are great little fishing villages to capture.

Linlithgow for the Palace and Loch. My friend also runs a photo walk in Edinburgh (4 Hours) and will take you to some different places to see. Look for Edinburgh Photo Tours on trip adviser for ratings.

Oh - I offer some of the best coffee in Kincardine if you're passing.

Andy

There are all the obvious places like Stonehenge and Salisbury Cathedral which isn't far away. The jurassic coast from Lyme Bay round to the Isle of Whight is worth a look. A lot will depend on what takes your interest as you can have the modern along side the 2000 year old burial site.

Actually, I am not as interested in the "obvious" places, as I am in the unknown places. I have not heard of the Jurassic coast so that peaks my interests. I've been thinking a lot about working the Isle of Whight in to the trip. I'm very curious about it. Thank you for the suggestion.

I am about to embark on a month long exploration of England and Scotland. While there are places that I have decided I must see, I'm looking for suggestions of out of the way, photography, must see places that I have not heard about. I know there are a lot of Scots, and English talented people on this site so I am asking them for ideas. Thanks.

I am going to the UK and Belgium this summer. I too am taking my 18 200 and a 12-24. That is all. A nice walk around and a wide angle for scenery. I debated between the 18 200 and a 28 75. But the 18 200 won out. I think!

That's what I was thinking. I don't want to be dramatic about it, but this may be my last opportunity. The wife is certainly pushing harder then ever for this trip at this time.

I'm thinking I'd like to acquire one more lens before we go. Something like a 10mm.

I'm only going to take two lens on my trip. I don't want to have to drag around a bunch of heavy equipment. Just haven't really decided which two. I'll be doing mostly landscape. Thinking my 18 200 and maybe 28 75 for walking around.
