If we ban people who only come to the HOG for the Chit Chat section then what will be next? Will be ban somebody because they only come to the Macro section or possibly the C&C section.

When I go to the Chit Chat section I go in with my eyes open and am aware of name calling etc. from both sides of the political aisle. Personally I don't name call and seldom have bad names or curses hurled at me. I think people on each side pretty much get what they deserve and they seem to relish the insults coming their way or they would not dish them out.

Like every other section on the HOG people enter at their desire. Subscribers do not have to subscribe to the Chit Chat section if they choose otherwise.

I don't like people limiting what I can see and do no matter who does it.

For the past couple of years I have been a frequent visitor to Chit Chat. Although I do not agree with the opinions of many of the other participants, I do enjoy reading all opinions. In a few instances I have joined in and expressed my opinion. I will admit my blood pressure will spike in some cases as I am absolutely flabbergasted at how naive and misinformed some folks are. Yet they continue to press on with their position even when challenged with an intelligent counter argument. In most cases those folks that voice these ill-informed opinions tend to attack the other party with petty and childish comments. That's when it really gets fun!

So what have I learned from Chit Chat? First off, everybody has their own opinion. Secondly, the lack of "face to face" encounters results in decorum and respect to rapidly escape the tenor of the dialog. Third, I have collected a few really good jokes. And lastly (most importantly) human nature really hasn't changed much: we're still a bunch of assholes for the most part!
