I'm on B&H email list. They let me know about upcoming camera gear, classes offered, etc. I already know about B&H Black Friday Sales from 2-3 years ago. The savings are incredibly cheaper. And yes, prices do go back up to the regular prices after Black Friday. I missed one year to almost saving $200 on a new camera. Nikon lowers their prices, when they want to, and rises them when they want to. No exceptions. Yes, kudos to B&H. I've bought 80% of my camera equipment from them since 2009. And I will be seeking out Black Friday deals from them soon. There may be something I want. Cheaper.

Yes indeed, Black Friday and Cyber Monday are almost upon us and to this end I bought a can of WD40 to spray on my Payboo Card to prevent it from overheating as I will be doing some serious shopping myself :)

I love it when a retailer takes care of their customers beyond expectation.
I have purchased nearly all of my gear from B&H over the years and have always liked the way I was treated.
But today I was even more pleasantly surprised.
I purchased a camera from them on Nov. 8 and received it Nov. 12. Today both B&H and Adorama announced a Back Friday sale with the purchased camera at $150 less than I paid. I immediately began “scheming” how I could “save” that $150.
Rather than return it under their generous terms and then re-purchasing, I thought I’d simply call. But it’s Sunday so I emailed instead, expecting an answer sometime in the week ahead.
In less than 90 minutes I had a reply to let me know that they were crediting my credit card for the $150 price reduction.
Obviously, I am pleased and thankful that there are still retailers who truly value customer loyalty. Refreshing!!

Thank you and to those who follow who took the time to write about their positive buying experience with B&H Photo. It's always gratifying to hear that our efforts bear fruit and are acknowledged. I make every effort to pass this information upstream whenever I have the opportunity.

Kinda figured. The days of walking over maybe coming to an end. We are looking at moving. The city is getting to be a cess pool.

I've grown weary as well. To this end I've sold my home in Brooklyn and bought a house in Lakewood, N.J. We are for the time being maintaining a small apartment in Brooklyn as both my wife and I work in the city.

I only bought from B&H once,(based on positive comments from this site) and it was not a good experience.
I realize that anyone can make a mistake, but I have been leery of buying from them again. I would always buy from a brick and mortar store if there was on anywhere near me.

If your purchasing experience was less than positive, please drop a line to Henry Posner at henryp@bhphoto.com with all of the details.

Great place, great people, and Hershel loves an excuse to get out of his office for a bit. If you ever get a chance to go there, contact Hershel to see if he is available. Great guy, but don't tell him I told you!

I am fortunate to live on Long Island, which gives me access to the B&H store in Manhattan. I was recently interested in a Sigma 150-600 lens for my Canon EOS RP. I went to the store and the sales staff was extremely helpful. They connected a lens to an RP camera for me to try out. I had a question about mounting the camera and lens on my tripod their tripod sales staff showed me hoe to do it. I purchased the lens from B&H. You just do not get this kind of service anymore and a trip to B&H is certainly worth it.

As Herschel joined into this thread, I would just like to say that the folks at B&H are great. It is always a pleasure doing business with them. Wish I could say the same about the folks in government.

Thank you for the kind words. I always make a point of conveying them to colleagues and management.

I live in Texas and the tax rate is 8.5%. Now if I buy the Nikon D850 from B&H with PayBoo it would cost me $2796.95. My question that if B&H doesn't have the policy to pay for the tax can B&H sell the camera for $2577.83 and collect the tax normally? It would cost me the same but does Nikon accept that? Just curious though.

If you buy the Nikon D850 you would pay the $2796.95 + the 8.5% Sales Tax. If you pay this using the Payboo card, the 8.5% Sales Tax comes off the bottom line and your net cost will be $2,796.95 + any applicable shipping charges.

I won't argue taxes or politics with anyone.
I pay over half of my income in taxes! If that's not enough to pay for all the freeloaders in this country, then cut some of the crap they ALREADY blow it on!
Thanks for the break B&H! I know WHY you do it..but it's still very cool of you to do so.
Peace!

Most welcome and as always we are grateful for your continued trust and patronage.

In this program by B&H, they pay the tax. Nobody is dodging. It's simply a promotional tool.

Hi Linda,

I hope this finds you and yours well. You are and others who have similarly stated are quite correct in that B&H pays all required taxes on a any Payboo purchase. The ideal way to buy with Payboo is to make sure you pay for your Payboo purchase in full in the time allotted so as not to incur interest charges, late fees, etc.

Our Payboo Card has been well received by our customers and is steadily growing in popularity. Since I got my Payboo card my dining room looks like the B&H Warehouse! It's like getting an additional 8.75% discount (NYC Sales Tax) off our already low prices.

Anyone seeking more information about the card can send an email to Henry Posner at henryp@bhphoto.com

All the best.

All my life and I am 60 now, I could never imagine NYC as a vacation destination until I had to go for a business meeting.

All I can is WOW, my perception was way off.
I decided to take my better half to see the big apple and see what it was all about and got some great shots.

We took the ferry to see the Lady, This is something I have always dreamed of.
For these shots we walked about 15 miles per day and really got to experience the city.

Hershel from B&H photo was kind enough to give us a tour of the store and behind the scenes, B&H is not at all a small operation, they are huge, the store is just the tip of the iceberg, they have my business.

Enjoy.

Seems due to a new law companies are now required to charge sales tax on online purchases for out of state buyers. Anyone know of ways to skirt that? B&H is offering a credit card that pays your sales tax....

Speaking strictly as a consumer and B&H customer, I signed up for the Payboo card last week and have already saved the equivalent of the NYS tax on nearly $600 worth of products. As I don't buy anything that I'm not going to pay for when the bill comes in, for me personally using this card is a no brainer. It's like getting an additional 8.75% discount on my purchase.

My feeling is that from a business perspective this card is a masterstroke and B&H has once again tilted the playing field in favor of our customers in taking the sting out of the high cost of state sales tax.

For more details on this card, feel free to contact Henry Posner our official spokesperson, or follow his instructions in a previous UHH thread as quoted below.

"See www.bandh.com/payboo. You do pay the tax, just as you did yesterday and last week. What's different if you choose to use this program is that B&H returns the amount of the tax paid so net-net it hasn't come out of your pocket. Technically you paid the tax as you're supposed to."

All the best.
