All of these are very impressive!
I am very impressed with your eye and composition. These are the kinds of images that inspire me to try harder.
Reading your post led me to believe the full name of your dog was "Murphy's Law!"
The stars aligned perfectly!! Hope you also purchased a lottery ticket!! Thank you for sharing these great photos.
My wife has become used to my hobby and appreciates the photobooks documenting our family vacations. She is very cost conscious about equipment and was extremely critical of my purchase of the Tamron 150-600 G2 not just due to the cost, but due to the weight of the lens. She does accompany me on trips to wildlife refuges. She reads and drives the auto route while I take photos and bird watch. She is a good spotter and emerges from the car for looks at some species.
Normally, I would jump in with some ids, but for Alaska gulls, there is so much hybridization, that for the most part they require major expertise to properly identify. I strongly suspect that as time goes by, some people who absolutely must obtain the correct identification will demand not just a good photo, and these are great, but also a DNA sample! Keep birding and above all, keep shooting. Wonderful photos.
I am a gull fan, but really liked the boat photos.
Excellent photos! The timing on the mallard landing was incredible. Great set!
Hi Shooter41
Compare Peterson's bird descriptions in the first edition of his field guide with those in his latest editions. Their simplicity and clarity contrasts sharply with the descriptions not only in his last edition, but also with all the current authors. Yesterday I watched a shorebird identification to learn "macro" and "micro" field marks. Never when I started bird watching did I ever expect those detailed breakdowns!!
Not enough gray for it to be a Song Sparrow. The cheek patches are not emphasized by white stripes above and below so not Purple Finch or Cassin's Finch. You took a great photo of a House Finch.
Thank you for the information. What also impressed me about the rifle was the designs were not overdone.
Your BW rendition of the Great Blue was awesome and inspirational. Have used BW on some photos, but not wildlife. You have widened my horizons.
You may desire to travel a little farther and try the Wildlife Drive at Bombay Hook in Delaware. Also check out what a Delorme shows for New Jersey. You may discover roads to the bay or ocean which provide good views of the marsh, bay, or even some meadows. On some of the Maryland back roads I can shoot photos of Grasshopper and other sparrows on roadside fences.
I have also used PSPro for many years. If you have addons from other programs you may be able to incorporate them. When I had a technical problem after migrating the program to a new computer the technician stayed on the line for over an hour until the problem was resolved. The program is easy to learn, the tutorials are decent, and the ability to use your creativity is also outstanding. When my grandchildren were younger they were mystified when I twinned them in photos. Am now using PSP Ultimate 2021 and agree with all the favorable comments.
Hope you don't mind a question from someone not familiar with firearms. The rifle seems as much a work of art as a firearm. Is the company the same one that provided repeating rifles to the Union Army during the Civil War?
