To help educate you (which you clearly need) take a look at Tony Nothrup's examination of this issue.

7D Mk II Image Quality: Is it as bad as DxoMark says?

Hey... don't shoot the messenger.

Just listen to the message and caveat emptor... ;)

I am listening to the message. The difference is I CAN READ.

The 7DII is superior because for its targeted use (sports and wildlife) it has better marks in what counts.

ISO, focusing, ISO, ISO, focusing and ISO as well as sensor efficiency at its crop factor.

THESE... are performance measures. ;)

NO! THEY ARE NOT!!!!

They are controlled lab comparisions of sensors. NOT CAMERAS!!!!

DxO NEVER compares cameras, just sensors and lenses.

JUST IN CASE YOU CANNOT READ. At the top of your comparison it says

“Welcome to our camera sensor comparison tool”

The 7DII is INFERIOR to the competition.

;)

Interesting. Not a single actual performance comparison in the lot.

Firmware to be exact.

I thought you were referring to external software like LR, etc.

I beg to differ that the camera is a computer. Modern digital cameras utilize a processor in operation but so does your microwave oven. Is your microwave oven a computer? A printer uses a processor. Is a printer a computer? Some of the newer fishing reels utilize a micro-processor. Are those fishing reels computers? No. Neither is a camera a computer. A camera is a device for recording images.

Yes the question of how the printing was done has to be answered in order to provide more useful advice. Let's get back to OP's question now ok? Send me a PM if you want to debate this subject further.

There is no debate. You just agreed with me that the OP needs to give us more information, which is all I ever said.

Thanks

Connecting the Camera directly to the printer and using the camera print menu is how you can print without using computer software.

The camera USES SOFTWARE TO PRINT!!!! The camera is a computer. Still need to know what software the OP is using to send to the printer. Can't give a reasoned answer without that info.

A very good solution is to NOT EVEN USE INK for your b/w documents.

If space is not an issue, you can just get a $100 laser printer, HP, Dell B1160W, Brother, etc.

The footprint is small, it's laser quality for documents and cost per page is 2 - 3 cents compared to 8-10 cents per page from your ink supply for inkjet black ink. Many inkjets actually use color from the color cartridges to print just black.

I have the Dell B1160w which I paid under $100 for. Toner cartridges produce sharp, very black print. A cartridge is about $60 to $70 at the big box supply stores, but they are about HALF that on eBay. Just make sure you lay in an extra one.

Laser also prints much faster and cleaner than ink. For paper, when I don't need a special finish, I just by the least expensive copy paper at Staples (or other) at under $4 per ream. Often close to $3.

The only problem is, I use my laser printer more, as I do a lot of document work. That leaves my photo printer (13x19 pigment ink Epson) idle, so I must remember to try and print at least one print per week to keep the ink channels from drying up.

It's a good solution for me, and costs less per page. The foot print on the printer is about 9inches by 14 inches.

I did not see the daughter and desk space post til now.

Hey, it's her dime on the cost per page and the compromise on quality. There is no color printer that is not compromised, at least on price if you try to go full ink jet.

If I were going to buy the compromise solution, I would go with Canon Pixma, latest model and not try to "cheap out"

The OP already said space is an issue.

If you think about, the manuafacture has had two tries at a refurb. A new one is just mass off the line.

If he is printing to a local, non-professional service such as a Walgreens they will truncate the image to fill the paper with the shorter dimension of the image. Just sayin.

He has also "tried to print it on my HP 6500 series color printer " so he must be using a program of some kind to print to his printer, unless you know of a way of priting with out software of any type. Please tell me how you do that.

Canon refurbished(and Nikon for that matter) products are quite reliable.

The digital image needs to be in a 3:2 pixel ratio (long edghe:short edge). Otherwise part of the image will be cut off.

No. It does not need to be in that ratio. You just need to control what is being sent to the printer through whatever program being used to print. You might be left with white space, but that does not seem to be a negative for the OP. However, we do not know what program he is using to print.

Is the OP printing from windows media center? Lightroom? A default program provided with the camera? Some other off the shelf program?

Ahhh....if I could afford a Leica M240......I'd already have it

:)

The Leica occupies the same space in my mind as the Porsche 911 Carrera. That little "if I ever win the lottery" space.

OK. So your budget is under $5,000. How about the Sony A7 and a couple lenses? That you can do under $5,000.

Or is your budget lower?

It would be easier if you just told us.

Guys. The OP already indicated there is not enough room for 2 printers. That is why he is asking about a single printer.
