I bought this unit, very stout, well built, I use it with D800/150/600mm, on a monopod!! {so now I need a better monopod!!}

I didn't see the load capacity listed, do you happen to know what it is?

I have a Canon 6D and the Sigma 50-500mm. The head doesn't hold the weight as well as I would like. While shooting I do not have a problem, but when I carry it with camera and lens attached it doesn't seem to hold or I am not able to tighten it down enough to hold without movement. Does that make sense?

I have the Oben VH-R2 tilt head, but I really need one with a larger load capacity. I have only used it for shooting football games.

I have an Oben CTM-2500 and it is a great monopod. It is well built. The one I have looks like the carbon fiber version of the one you are looking at. I think you would be happy with ACM-2400. The reviews on B & H are pretty much all good.

I really thank you all for your input . My local camera store said a 6D and she did not need the 5D

I have the 6D and if money grew on trees I would be upgrading to the 5D III. Don't get me wrong, the 6D is a great camera and I am happy with it but the 5D is that much more.

If she is willing to learn, she will love the camera and will not be in need of an upgrade. If you purchase less of a camera, she may be in want of an upgrade. If you purchase from a local camera shop there is a good chance that they have a class that would be free to learn the ins and outs of the camera. There are also many videos on youtube that will help with the learning curve.
Lucky wife!

You really need to use the same setting and then you can see any differences.

I see you had your shutter speed at 1/2000. Why so fast? Your ISO can come down greatly if you change your shutter speed.

Might be worth your time to see what others have to say and see some real life comparisons.

Since you will be using an external hard drive what you need to be looking at is RAM. My Mac book pro has 8GB of RAM, I wish I could upgrade to more but am at my limit. Lightroom and PS can get slow if you are short on RAM. I would suggest 16GB.

Also, I see you are from Wasilla. I was raised in Willow and went to Wasilla for Jr High and High school.

Here's the update on TOTAL wolf population and total Elk killed by wolves since planting using the 21.6 kills per year per wolf. That estimate is pretty much the accepted average. Numbers range from 11-35 and probably vary depending on relative abundance of predator and prey and perhaps other factors.

The total wolf count chart is from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife service.

Your second chart is quite deceptive. It is a cumulative number of elk killed over a number of years, not a yearly number. Also, it does not show a source. Anybody can make a chart.

Rust's Flying Service. They are great! There is a reason they have been flying in Alaska for so long.

Wildlife number also tend to be very cyclical. It is all a part of nature. You keep speaking about your blog, maybe you should share how to find it.
