Oh, surely you jest! It's clever, funny and true to the spirit of the Mini brand.

However, that video was patronizing and dumb.

Don't hate me. Its just my 5 cents opinion. !

The majority of my work is in shooting people. I use the Canon EF-S18-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS. It rarely leaves my camera body. I used it for two weddings in 2012 - great results.

Hey Canon Shooters,
I just switched over to Canon after being a long time Nikon person and I'm looking for a good lens to shoot people with.

I'm not professional but like taking family shots and i'm going to be taking candid wedding photo's for my brother. I am very critical when it comes to my photos so I'm looking at the quality of the image a lens will give me. For Nikon it was the 24-70 f/2.8 lens but not sure which one does the trick for Canon, maybe the same one?

I'm shooting with the 5D MkIII, really enjoy it so far. Primary interest is Wildlife but need to do these family things once in a while and I want them to be great, not just good.

Appreciate all your input and if you have questions don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks
Rob

I use both and I can think of no reason to say that one is better than the other. But from a personal preference standpoint, I like the PC better. I found no advantage to using MAC for photo editing. Both systems do the job.

I was sitting here trying to decide how to comment but Robert has put it so well. I'd only add that if I can get tack sharp photos with my Canon T3i then I could certainly get them with the 5D M2. My sister has one and her shots are awesome.

LOL! I used to shoot Weddings when I was younger and still have my Olympus Film Cameras and my M6451000S system. Digital full frame is a whole new beast. Been reading many Photo Mags for over a year in order to begin to understand how they function. Seems I could only randomly get sharp shots from my 5D M 2. I know its AF system is not the Best! I just want to be able to shoot sharp Photos.

IMAO if you were unable to take sharp pictures with a Canon 5D MII then your technique needs improvement.
Buying any incrementally better camera body or lens is not going to improve your technique or skills.

There are many on UHH that take tack sharp photos with P&S equipment.

A search of the web will provide you with many resources for learning how to produce sharp digital photos. A fairly comprehensive one can be found at:
http://photographylife.com/how-to-take-sharp-photos

Your Mamiya M645 is a medium format manual focus camera with a split screen which you are comparing to auto-focus 5D MII. Did you try manual focus on the 5D ? There are split screens available ( Google "Katzeye Optics" ).

I don't think that a new camera will solve your problem.

Agree with everything here. You need Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro and Portrait Professional to "polish" your portraits.
Old Redeye wrote:
Portrait Professional is a relatively cheap, but very effective program. However, it ONLY adjusts faces. Lightroom, Photoshop and similar programs would also be useful for blemishes on other parts of the body and to do more extensive editing.
I use Photoshop and Portrait Professional 11 regularly and love them both. I just got Lightroom, as well

I've used PSP for years - recently got the latest version. There are good books available with complete details on how to use - you can also download a user's guide. I find the program to be really great - for most things I prefer PSP to Photoshop.

Tell me what you are wanting to do and I will see if I have a link to a tute.. Oh, I have found videos at YouTube also. If you will go to YouTube and search in the space at the top you might find what you are looking for.
I haven't really gotten off of 7 as my partner died in Sept and I have been swamped. But I really like 7. X5 has GOT to be good.

Try Blurb. You won't be disappointed. I've made three linen-bound books with upgraded paper - just beautiful.

I've made several photo books with Adorama, and I have some more in mind. They are having free online workshops about how to make those books. REservations required. They say they have limited space available, which I don't understand because they are online classes. Look for AdoramaPix on their site.

EDIT: Ok, I see that this is a webinar, where people can ask questions, so they would want to set some limits.

Brokeweb, I always print my best photos on Epson Ultra Premium Presentation Matte - it's my absolute favourite. I recall that this paper used to be called Premium Photo Matte. Just because it doesn't have the word "photo" in its name doesn't mean it isn't photo paper. If you like it, stick with it.

This photo prints much better on a high quality profession presentation-mat finish as compared to printing it on photo paper.

I am using an Epson Inkjet Prpinter WF-1040. with Dura Brite Ultra ink.

Presentation paper: is Epson Ultra Premium Presentation-Matte
Photo Paper is: Ultra Premium Photo Paper- Luster

I want to sell this photo, with a recommendation of printing it on the presentation paper, but if someone wants it on photo paper, I can't seem to get it right on Photo paper:

The blacks on photo paper are slightly dark brownish, where the blacks on presentation paper are strong. Are there any printer affiliationattos out there who can offer some suggestions? I want my product to be consistent on both mediums.

I use one of these Epsons as well - it's a good option and small enough to carry around. The thing is when you download your shots each night, you can dump any real duds then and there.

I use an Epson P-3000. It's a hard drive with a viewing screen. at the end of the day I slide my CF card into the slot and copy them into it. Then I erase my cards. When I get home I download all the files into my computer and external hard drives there. Never had any problems.

I know - I'm the same. I'm just not shooting on a regular basis. I tend to need a particular reason for taking out the camera.

I submitted a child's portrait because most of the work I do is people related. The open call allowed me to use one of my favourite pics. I like more open calls because more photographers will have something to enter.

I have a product called Anti-Stat Film Cleaner. On the bottle it says it's made by Brandess/Kalt/Aetna, 701 Corp. Woods Parkway, Vernon Hills, Illinois 60061. I've had it for a while but I imagine it's still available. You use it with a lint-free cloth.

I have some of my dad's old slides from back in the 50's and was trying to scan them but they have dust or mold or ??? spots on them.
Is there any way to clean the slides to get good scans?
Would it hurt to take a cotton swab and clean them?
I don't want to hurt them, but they need cleaned somehow...
Just need the best way to clean them.

I don't think any photography-related words bother me but there is a new word that irritates me no end. I sew, so I used to be called a sewer - a perfectly good word. But the larger sewing community decided the word would be confused with the place where nasty waste goes and someone might be offended. So some bright spark decided the word should be changed to sewist. It clearly never occurred to them that used in context, there would never be confusion. I'm a copywriter by profession so this change appears totally rediculous to me.
